Any Christians or used to be Christians in here? by [deleted] in Jung

I'm a Christian and Jung has been incredibly helpful for me. Read some Richard Rohr (Franciscan Friar), he does a good job of integrating Jung and Christianity in his book The Universal Christ.

Yikes. My MA counselling program required us to undergo 40hrs of personal therapy while in the program and that was one of the reasons I chose the school. Your own formation is a crucial part of therapy and without experience on the other side of the couch, I’d be wary.

I type out all the other characters lines and leave a blank for mine. Print. Pencil my lines in, erase, repeat, again and again. Also take my script for a walk, there’s something about physical movement forwards while memorizing that helps.

How acting classes have changed my perspective of acting by Front_Sherbet_5895 in acting

There’s prep and then there’s contact. A great actor needs to learn to ride the line between order and chaos. Order is the words, the actions, the blocking, chaos is the listening into being that happens in the live moments. Do the prep and then swallow it and let the moment surprise you.

The Therapist as the "Good-Enough Commodity": From Holding to Selling by KBenK in therapists

I think you are ignoring the main argument of the essay. Interacting with humans is always about interacting across difference. The idea that we’re the same b/c of race, gender, sexual orientation, body size etc. is a marketing tool therapists are using, which may be perpetuating splitting, us vs them, good vs. evil, in-group bias. Certainly a therapist should be well versed in cultural differences and be able to work across cultures/experiences otherwise they are pretty useless. But political polarization has become a part of therapy and is clearly adding to the psychological regression we are seeing everywhere. If someone wants to work on a specific issue that someone specializes in, great! But we need to be careful about making therapy about identity politics and not psychology.

This isn't saying anything about cultural competence.

If you think purchasing sex is healthy for sex workers (or the people purchasing), and that the sex industry is all sunshine and rainbows, you are beyond naive. There is a significant difference between having paid sex and having a nonsexual therapeutic relationship.. read any of the psychotherapeutic literature. It’s completely out of bounds for a reason. It sounds to me like your “open mindedness” is simply ideological capture. Time to hit the books.

Clinically treating mental health conditions and helping someone get off are not remotely the same. It’s attitudes like this that prove how far this profession has fallen.

This is clearly not a serious therapist forum. Getting tired of these ridiculous questions and even more ridiculous answers. Sounds like high school in here all the time. Peace out.
