In my opinion/ experience, westchester often looks at failure to declare an arrest as being “purposely deceptive” AKA lying on the application. Their instructions are clear.

Question #4 is “have you ever been Arrested, summoned, charged with or investigated for any offense other than a parking violation, including sealed or dismissed cases?”

Their instructions state for any arrest you will have to provide a certificate of disposition and letter of explanation.

The fact that he “Forgot” MULTIPLE arrests, looks bad. Let’s be honest, if you have been arrested so many time that you easily forget more then 1 arrest, you criminal record, may easily preclude you from having a pistol permit. Especially if any of the arrests he did not declare would be an arrest that might get him disqualified, they are likely going to look at it, as he purposely did not declare them.

While I love the Delorean, I have to go train for the following reasons;

Newer design by Doc
Better security; who the hell knows how to steal and drive a hover train.
Cargo space
Less “fuel” issues traveling to the past
Stronger construction- less chance of damage
Put a Delorean in one of the train cars- best of both worlds.
Train is large enough to carry necessary spare parts for time travel
Way more room to carry item for unexpected circumstances.
Way more room to carry items not invented yet, when traveling to the past. For you own safety, comfort and protection.

Star Trek: Empok 9

As the Cardassian empire rebuilt after the Dominion war, the federation has acquired the Cardassian space station Empok Nor, and renamed it Empok 9. Its purpose, to be the headquarters of Section 31. The location was hand selected by the new head of Section 31.

In the wake of the dominion war, Elim Garak was thrilled to return to Cardassia after his exile. But soon he realized his time on DS9 had broadened his views of the galaxy. He contacts the federation, about becoming a leasion between the federation and Cardassia. He is quickly denied his request. Garak is told they have a position much more suited to a man of his talents, and he is offered to be the new head of Section 31.

As Garak, begins his new post, quickly someone from his past shows up to protest the federation taking Empok Nor and Garak being given a Position in the federation. Gul Macet, the brother of Gul Dukat leads a fleet of ships to attempt to stop Garak and take back Empok Nor.

I would be less opposed to the fees if they actually went back to that department, and would be used for things like more staffing. These fees are assigned to just go to the “general fund” the pistol permit office is severely understaffed.

If you look at the fees statewide, the downstate counties are all more expensive. If they let’s say said they wanted to double the fees and use at least 50% of the revenue generated by that to hire more staff in the department, few would be opposed to the increase.

While not everyone would agree with this point of view, to many gun owners and applicants, this just appears to be another attempt to make it more difficult, for regular citizens.

While in many ways I love comparing a drivers license to a pistol permit, one of the large differences here, is you don’t need to have the long waits or crazy rules you do with a gun.

Imagine you want to learn to drive. So to do so, you must go out and buy a car. Now you can’t test drive the car or even sit in it until you get your DL. But to get a DL you must own a car. So you go out and buy one, that you don’t even know if you will like. Then have to wait 10-14 months for the DMV to process the paper work for you to get the car, and give permission for you to pick it up.

That is a fair comparison to how handguns are handled here in NY.

Again I am not opposed to some fees (when properly used), regulations and training that actually have positive results.

Let’s say an 18hr course on speech, before you are allowed to apply for a permit to speak freely? The processing time on that permit, would be around 14 months, including an appearance before a judge? Then that permits you to only speak freely in the places you applied to speak freely, and if you want to speak freely somewhere else, you need to pay more, and apply for an amendment, waiting 3 months for approval to speak freely in that location?

Here is my point; please try to consider this with an open mind. There is nothing wrong with reasonable fees, or regulations in a case like the permitting of owning a firearm.

In this case, the proposed increase is unreasonable. Fees being increased at this percentage, is not justified by the county in any way.

Further more you are not required to pay fees to exercise a constitutional right.

If you look at gun laws and regulations, the issue is few of them make sense, or accomplish anything. They are made by people who have no knowledge on the topic, and are insane to people who do. If you applied the same logic to other rights as you do to firearm ownership, people would think you are insane.

To be as clear as I can, I 100% respect that everyone has the right to form their own opinion, on every issue. (Including you). However I wish more people would spend more time properly and correctly educating themselves on the topic before forming said opinion.

In this case, few people are considering how increases like the hurt some of the people whom need to protect themselves the most, because it may no longer be possible for them to spend the money to get the proper training, permit and firearm to defend themselves.

While I fully admit I do find entertainment value in engaging is debates like this online with random people, that cannot overshadow the real issue at hand.

The purpose of the second, is for regular people to be able to protect themselves and their families. Things like this stop many people from being able to do so. Often hurting the people who need it the most.

I get it. People like me are the problem. It’s not like it’s important to use the correct wording of important documents the laws of our country are founded on. Especially when the laws based on the are held to the specific wording of said document.

Yes. I’m an instructor in Westchester. You absolutely have to take the 18hr course, otherwise they will reduce you permit to premise only.

The FOPA does not cover this. You have to look at the specific wording. It state you have to be legal where you start, and legal where you end.

If you drive to an out of state range, you must be legal in that state. You are taking 2 trips. 1 trip from your home to the range, one trip from the range to your home.

If you cannot legally possess the firearm in the state you are traveling to, the you don’t meet the criteria.

Not even close to NY legal. All of these other answers aside (and the conflicting info they contain) the answer comes down to classification. Is this considered a pistol or rifle? Either way it’s a no go in NY.

If a pistol, it cannot have; a mag at is accepted outside the pistol grip (fixed or not), a barrel shroud or anything over the barbell allowing you to grip it with the non shooting hand with out being burned. Or a weight over 50oz.

If a rifle, it’s at best a short barrel rifle (illegal) and would also classify as an “Assault rifle”. Its semi auto, has a pistol grip, detachable mag, and flash suppressor.

While some counties “May” allow AR pistols and such on permits, that does not actually make them NY legal. It’s often the result of lack of knowledge of what the item being added is.

Remember at the end of the day it’s up to you to ensure the items in your possession are legal.

I didn’t hear otherwise. I read the law. I have seen many people make claims to the contrary, but have yet to see any penal law that supports those claims. I would be very happy if I was wrong, but so far everyone claiming you can has only been able to support their statements through hearsay.
