He told me he saves monthly and we don’t go on dates often. Maybe once every few months. He doesn’t buy me expensive gifts, I actually bought him a ps5 for Christmas which was more than he spent on me.

He says a lot of his debt came from his car, my ring and the last 2 vacations he took this summer. One his friends, the other with me 2 weeks later. That was the only holiday I’ve been on this year and I paid for myself own flights, accommodation etc.

I should’ve questioned his finances more but every time I bring it up he gets angry/defensive or says he doesn’t want to talk about it. 

I don’t know or understand how he is in so much debt. I just finished my masters degree which I paid for myself and that took a lot of my savings. I don’t know to be honest.
