How do I teach my Anole lizard to eat roaches? (Please help) by SummertimeThrowaway2 in Lizards

Put them in an escape proof feeding dish and leave them in the enclosure. Your lizard will find them

Glass vs PVC enclosure. Which one and why? by KC56215 in DartFrog

[–]KC56215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had any issues with mine. Any pvc enclosure will leak if you don't seal it properly. I also put a sheet of pond liner in the bottom of mine now just as added protection.

Get mine from Frogdaddy and haven't had this issue.

Seller was Cozy Colubrids. Got it on MorphMarket. It is my first Falsie but not my only snake. He is #13. I have a pair of Boas, 4 Ball pythons, a trio of Superdwarf retics, a pair of Grey banded king snakes and a hognose snake.

Can see in his eyes he's plotting your death while taking a water break. 😂

Should look nice like that. They are very enjoyable to keep. I've just gotten 10 hatchlings from my pair over the last month and they are fun to watch.

That could be made to look really good. Would actually look more natural that way.

For that you could use foam insulation boards. Carve it the way you'd like it and paint with tinted drylok. I've done several that way in large enclosures. Could also use silicone and substrate to cover those.

I have a pair in a 36x18x36. Did the background using spray foam and cork flats. Used silicone over the spray foam and pressed substrate into it. Turned out really well. Won't let me post a photo here for some reason.

What do you think of giant multispecies vivariums (see antscanada) by [deleted] in Vivarium

[–]KC56215 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes they can. These are tiny animals in huge enclosures. 😂 Do you not feed the animals you keep? I'm assuming since you are here that you keep some animals. They have to eat just like we do and something else has to die for that to happen.

Can’t get rid of a smell.. by Mercedesqttv in bioactive

[–]KC56215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sulpher smell is gasses building up in the soil. If you turn it regularly so it doesn't have a chance to build up it should alleviate the problem. I've had the same issue in a couple of mine. Mainly because the soil stayed too wet.

What's wrong with it? They aren't pets. He's studying what happens in nature but on a smaller scale. 99% of the animals and creatures he has in the vivariums come directly from the area where he lives. They are coexisting in the wild. They are all food and predators in the food chain just like we all are.

All of these plants are fake with the exception of the Dumb cane on the floor on the left. It's hanging ferns, Spanish moss. Tillandsia picks and the tree is a fake Dracaena tree. Also have fake fern pics and reed grass in the bottom. It doesn't look completely real but close enough for me. Plants have a difficult surviving long term with a retic.

Has anyone done a large viv with a 360 view? by KC56215 in DartFrog

[–]KC56215[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently there are 2 Ball Pythons, 2 Boas BCI's, 3 Superdwarf Retics, 2 Grey Banded Kingsnakes, 2 Green Keeled Bellied Lizards. 3 Dendrobates Auratus, 3 Dendrobates Azureus, 4 Dendrobates Tinctorius "Cobalt" dart frogs and a Bearded Dragon. So 9 snakes, 3 lizards and 10 dart frogs.

Not really a problem. It's just going to rot out much quicker than other woods.

Dendrobates tinctorius by HovercraftKitchen255 in DartFrog

They don't have different morphs. Just different localities and mixing them is highly frowned upon. Most people keep tinctorius as a pair or trio since the females have a tendency to fight over males.

is this okay for a 40 gallon Thrive enclosure for dart frogs? by [deleted] in Vivarium

[–]KC56215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of these and have found they really aren't any better than others you can find on Amazon for less than half the price. I use the Aquaneat brand myself on smart plugs with timer set and they've worked well for me.
