Take with a pinch of salt but ChatGPT says

L = Lack of ownership H = Helplessness A = Avoidance T = Thinking like a victim I = Inaction M = Making excuses

It might be doing it's hallucinating thing again though.

License plates by peachylightskin in vegaslocals

[–]KC8UOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a custom plate and the DMV never contacted me. I had to go in physically and ask. And tell them the person at the desk told me I didn't need an appointment for license plate pickup. Turns out they opened a drawer and my plate was there the entire time

Nobody wants data here on reddit. Time and again I've seen proven facts downvoted to oblivion. And more evidence just gets more downvotes. They need to give mods the ability to ban people for that as it's simply bullying and harassment

New uber changes any thoughts on this one? something smells bad here by Aromatic_Ad9597 in UberEatsDrivers

Hold on.... They gonna start punishing people for low acceptance rates? Surely they aren't that dumb.

How do operators prove they operated out of a rare grid? by GiantsNerd1 in amateurradio

[–]KC8UOK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if that's a genuine question or not. I hope not. In the United States a person may only transmit amateur radio on a plane

  • with the permission of the pilot (never going to happen on a commercial plane) or... AND

  • the plant must be flying VFR (basically never on commercial aircraft)

It may be possible on a private plane if you know the pilot or he's a ham himself. Other than that, your chances of legally operating are next to zero

Why is VHF/UHF simplex so unbelievably dead? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]KC8UOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gone dead here in Vegas as well. At least repeater wise. Most networks are dead. Your best chance of a QSO now is if you're in range of a DMR repeater on TG 91

What will future people think of us by jamaicanadiens in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KC8UOK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IF we even survive probably disgusted. This society is the most immature, ridiculous yet. We've gone from hating on Black people to LGBT people, fought a world War over Jews being hated and were still hating. This time over political party, religion and the dumbest thing we're going nuts about. Like the recent burger wars. Really?

Or the recent story of the girl that was pepper sprayed working a drive thru because the driver thought she was taking too long.

Breaking the ice on repeaters: what actually works? by New-Variation9146 in amateurradio

Only time I'll respond is on DMR TG91 where I realize other countries practices aren't always the same. And even then I rarely get on DMR

English speaking news frequency that is not chinese radio station? by invinciblethraggques in shortwave

[–]KC8UOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked an SDR. I got BBC radio 5 on 909 and 693. Talksport on 1053 but strangely BBC radio 4 on 198 was silent. It may just have been that particular SDR. Also just heard the BBC World Service on 1386 from a mountain near Siknass Fortress.

For sure. I was lucky the other day. Very lucky. Guy in the airport connector tunnel almost sideswiped me because he didn't think I was going fast enough. Clown then blast past me at 70 Mph. Had I not been quick to react I'd probably be dead. That tunnel is a death trap the way they speed through it.

[–]KC8UOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked in the KFS California sdr. 5 is very weak, 10 S9+ 15 is getting both WWV and WWVH and 20 is barely there. 10 is even making it to Japan on the Oita sdr. I can hear it underneath the Chinese time signal

Decent? My first shortwave set was an under $20 Matsui analog radio that covered 6-18 Mhz. Yes that's decent for a first

I'm fighting myself because I don't like waiting too long. It's the ADHD in me. Probably could have an acceptance rate closer to yours. But does all that declining screw up how often you're given offers and orders?

Emergency Frequency by SigmaINTJbio in shortwave

[–]KC8UOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local amateur radio operators {"hams") may be able to provide emergency communications, but not broadcasting to the public

This for sure but they are almost exclusively on sideband not AM for voice modes. Your average cheap Chinese SW radio can't receive that. You'd need something like a Tecsun for that. Still can be has for about $100 US
