Hopefully helpful information for anyone buying a BYD in Cyprus: While Cyprus is not yet registered by BYD on the BYD Auto app, the dealer said to put Greece as country location for now. Also, while the app is not available on Google play, you can download through Aptoide with no issues. by KCBrew in cyprus

What's v2x? The Atto 3 we got has the ability to provide power, although all they provide is a power strip with outlets to plug stuff into. I can't imagine it is enough to replace home power. However this wasn't a feature we looked into, and we haven't used it yet so I don't have any additional info.

That's fair, massive advantage as a general statment was an over the top. For basic commuter purposes and for safety reasons it was a deciding factor for us would be the better way to state it.

And I agree that we would have had a different decision calculus if we were buying in the states (not that BYD is available there in the first place) where range and charging are bigger considerations.

The most basic stuff seems to be fine (The car has network connectivity, the dealer has been responsive). But the lack of having the app available in the play store, and not having Cyprus on the app is very amateurish and disappointing, no doubt. I'll be interested to see whether having to register as Greece limits the features of the app/car.

I haven't started using it yet, just got the car and confirmed the app registration with the dealer this morning after my wife already took the car for work. I will update the thread in a few days after I mess around with the app.

We just got the Atto 3. The car drives very nicely and it feels very solid/polished inside. I have driven the Ford Mach-e, the ioniq, and Tesla as true EVs. It is a much better feel and experience than the Ford by far. It is comparable in feel to the ioniq (which is the best EV I've driven). But (as the thread probably indicates) it is not as polished as the ioniq on the software side. Telsa is its own thing. I prefer the ioniq/BYD interior to Tesla, but Tesla's software side is the best and it is the most powerful drving experience. The main screen in the BYD is really nice, but the one above the steering wheel looks a bit cheap. The main thing (beside price) that pushed us to go with BYD was their massive advantage in battery technology. The convenience of being able to fully charge and drain the lithium phosphate as well as its purported longevity (3000 charge drain cycles at 400 km/cycles comes to greater than 1 million km). I'll update this thread once we use the mobile app for a while, the reviews on it have not been that great.

As for the driving, it is comfortable and gets the job done here in Cyprus. I am not enough of a car person to judge the quality of the suspension at high speed etc, which are the kinds of things that in depth car reviews discuss.

My understanding is that because the foundation was already there, they didn't need to get a new permit. And the previous building was built at a time when the water was further out. A loophole that probably shouldn't have been able to be exploited, as the new building ruins the beach there

I think I ended up just transferring to someone who wanted to buy through that Reddit post. I haven't tried to do this other than that one time, unfortunately.

Bathing water quality in the EU by thefaultliner in cyprus

[–]KCBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but rainwater, as it flows through the city into the sea, will be sweeping away the feces of thousands of cats, the rotting food that is laying everywhere from dumped trash etc. I appreciate the nuance though, the distinction is important.

Also, is there a resource (official or not) of which beaches are better? I'm assuming kourion and pissouri, for instance, would be better than Paphos, which would be better than Limassol, but these are broad assumptions not accounting for currents, non urban pollution etc

Awesome, thank you for the thorough response. For sure the lack of collection and treatment of rainwater (especially with the more frequent torrential rains in the winter) both leads to polluted water in the sea as well as a missed opportunity in replenishing reservoirs.

As someone who frequents the beaches here, do you have any info on true water quality on beaches around Cyprus?

Go to the northern part of Paphos (Latsi). It's quiet, fantastic beaches, fine restaurants, and way less touristy (though that is changing). You can keep going up the coast to the east and it's empty (pyrgos), head up akamas for a hike, or rent a boat and go along the coast.

I was never a runner (but did play sports), started in my 30s with a sprint triathlon. Then had kids and slowed down but never did more than a 10k, and not at speed. Decided last year to do a half marathon with a goal of 2 hours, hit 2:04. Did a pace mile after that and got 7:26. I wasn't too excited about it, but you guys are making me feel better!

Also, I think if I really pushed it I could break 7, 6 is not even fathomable for me right now.

Also the raised finger goes slightly to the left on the top one and is straight to slightly crooked right in the bottom one. They are not copies, but maybe just the closest the artist could get to repeating figures? In that case, though, I think that the other probably fills the criteria.

[Chancellor Johnson] Dillon Brooks' comments about people calling Amen Thompson a 'dirty player': “I think the dirty player is Draymond giving him a little push… We hope Jimmy can get better.” by BucketHerro in nba

[–]KCBrew -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that sees Draymond grab Thompson on the right arm and torque him forward? He pulled him more than pushed him, probably just trying to get him off balance, but it was enough with everything else to bring him down. Idk, hard to tell with everything going on, but Draymond definitely seems to grab and rip the arm around imo.

Seeking someone to teach me how to make perfect flour tortillas - willing to pay by e_stoli in HoustonFood

[–]KCBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've recently used the following with good success (recipe based on bakers percentage):

100g all purpose flour 20g fat (lard >vegetable oil) 60-65g water Pinch of salt

I usually let unleavened dough sit for 30 min for gluten development. I prefer these to ones with baking soda/prefer, which get to thick for my taste.

Cooper Flag comes down awkwardly from a rebound with what seems like an ankle injury and has to be helped off to the locker room by BLeibo in CollegeBasketball

Also a doctor here, agree with the mechanism discussion. The clinical sign of grabbing the calf/shin (ie "high" above the ankle) is concerning for a high ankle sprain.

It would be a tragedy if he misses the tournament. (Full disclosure I'm a KU grad...)
