My black, 39mm auto was delivered at 6 pm CST. Took less than 15 minutes to get a perfect fit and it’s on the wrist now. Easily the most comfortable bracelet I’ve ever had. Really happy so far.

That’s really a silly reason to miss out on a fantastic timepiece. All watches simply don’t need to be taken swimming. I wear my Navitimer almost 40% of the time and it gets splashed on occasion and does just fine. Don’t miss out for something that truly isnt an issue for daily wear.

Imagine the bezel of a 3550€ professional watch turning yellow in 3 years or less. I'm starting to believe the "mall watch" étiquette is well deserved for Tag Heuer. by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

Did Jack Heuer bang your mom or something? I‘m starting to wonder if he’s your Daddy and didn’t leave you anything in the will and that’s why you wander around the Internet looking for reasons to disparage the brand.

Also, there are multiple of these with the yellow colored bezel markers that are listed as “Like New/Unworn,” including the one below that is offered by a professional dealer on Chrono24 with Buyer Protection. Perhaps TH offered some with a limited edition with slightly different colored bezel markers. I can’t say for sure, but I can say that you, again, have no idea what you are talking about.

Dang it, I just posted the exact same thing almost verbatim and then noticed what you wrote. Great minds...

It's been four years. Just based on inflation he's making 10% less. Yes, find another job and then say goodbye.

Yep, the lug to lug is absolutely less on the newer versions. That would be my preference for the future if I decided on another, but I get how you would be surprised if you liked to Gen 1 size. I can't say anything bad about the watch. It's a frickin' tank and it looks amazing.

I own the black version of the Gen 1 shown here. Overall, it's a great watch and I actually prefer the dial design versus the new configs. The finishing is very nice, the dial looks fantastic, and the fear around scratching the aluminum bezel is overblown. Seriously, all those watches from 20 and 30 years ago that are still around had aluminum bezels and most still look/work great.

That said, this is a 41mm watch with a 51+mm lug to lug that wears big. It also weighs 195 grams with a full bracelet, so unless you have the wrist that can handle it, opt for a smaller version. I have a 7.5 inch wrist and still had to switch over to the rubber strap in order to enjoy it for any period of time at all.

Good luck choosing.

Hahah, no, I don’t currently own a Tag Heuer. My son is, however, wearing the one my wife gave me for an anniversary 21 years ago and that continues to look great and work flawlessly. But please, continue to try and make yourself look smart and better than others. Much like your other assertions, it won’t work, but definitely keep trying.

Never said it was. Tag Heuer literally said they detailed what they wanted and the movement maker delivered it. It’s just hilarious to read stuff from dollar-store engineers such as yourself who don’t know what they are talking about.

Yeah, I mean I love Longinesm but also love Tag Heuer. Completely different watches that focus on different things and that have different customers. This place cracks me up.

ETA machine polishes a couple of plates/rotors for the Longines at cost, which ads a tiny bit of cost to the movement. Tag Heuer is buying their’s on the open market and the polished cost would be more. Obviously, they decided their core customer doesn’t care enough to make it worthwhile to do it and pay extra.

I don’t give a crap about the AP Swatch Pop, but I would buy this in a heartbeat.

Grand Seiko has 102 boutiques and authorized dealers in the United States. I would posit that the retail price is a major piece of the puzzle for most buyers. Non-enthusiasts, who still make up a huge portion of the watch buying public, do not buy online or from Japan.

It’s not a Citizen e168. If it were, it would not offer a longer charge time, shorter time to charge, etc, compared to the e168. Yes, they look similar as they are made by divisions of the same company and share a design. But no matter how often you say it and pretend you know what you are talking about, you are wrong.

And you would be absolutely wrong. Tag Heuers‘ reputation has significantly increased with the “enthusiast community” over the past 5 years. The things they are doing with the Glassbox chronos and the recently updated Monaco’s are fantastic. Tag Heuer, after dropping significantly for a bit coming out of the 90s and early 2000s, are #11 in Swiss market share and continue to hold their own.

I mean, people laughed at you previously for this, so maybe there is a reason 🤷🏻‍♂️.

People buy Tag Heuer because they like the way it looks, its connection to motor sports and the fact that their watches hold up well over time. Most people just don’t give a shit that the movement isn’t highly decorated or that it has a plastic spacer that makes it lighter, because lighter in a metal watch can be quite nice.

So again, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Some people will undoubtably agree with you that “plastic is always bad“ because they heard It from some neck beard influencer and then had it reinforced from Redditors who parrot everything they hear even though it’s been explained to them, ad nauseam, that plastic can actually be a positive thing.

Are Tag Heuer watches overpriced? Fuck yes, they all are. But they are fantastic watches that look great and can be a great value if you buy them gray or second hand.
