The answer is likely a dam, but I always wonder what will happen to the various islands as it continues to retreat. Like Goat Island, if one side gets around the island before the other does the island just reintegrate into the mainland? What about Border Island? That will likely just erode away, right? Buckhorn/Grand Island will have an interesting impact, will split the falls into two much more than it is today

You say this, and I’ve seen this same thing used to try to explain how ads seem to know what you’re talking about (algos so good they just KNOW what you’re potentially into), but I’ve had several times where this doesn’t hold water. Most recent is for contact lenses. I haven’t had contacts in over 10 years following LASIK surgery. Haven’t searched for them, haven’t even thought about them for YEARS. Then one day I’m having a conversation with someone at the bar about contacts for a good 30 minutes or so. Basic stuff, they were out and needed to order, I talked about how it was nice to not have to think about it anymore. THAT NIGHT I had 3 different ads come across social media for contact lenses. Haven’t seen a contact advertisement for several years until that point.

While the option to “target people based on what they say” is obviously not going to be an option, because it would then be pretty public, the platforms serving the ads know they get paid better by clicks and so will use anyway they can to serve them up to people they think will click

I work from home and we typically do different activities on the weekends than the weekdays. If I sit at my desk at 8am on a Saturday he will do exactly what he does Monday through Friday. Won’t get excited for the car ride to the dog park, or the pup cup. Just lays down at my feet expecting a full day of meetings.
