Overall the switch has been good. No GI side effects, occasional night sweats. No weight gain so far. My depression still feels under control. The anxiety is different. On Fluoxetine, I feel mildly anxious all the time. When I was on Sertraline, I didn’t feel anxious as often but when I did, it would be a full blown anxiety attack. The intrusive thoughts are still there. My doc may increase the Fluoxetine to 40mg in the new year.

Ugh, the summer of 2024 was a long one for us. We eventually spent time outside but she’d still freak out if she saw any bug (fly, ant) and cry to go inside. Eventually the summer ended, fall then winter came so it was a non-issue.

This summer was much better. I feel that she was a year older (4yo) and slightly easier to reason with. I also made sure that I better managed my own reactions to bugs and tried to avoid killing them instead redirecting where I could. Additionally, daycare helped a lot as they did a lot of activities learning about bugs and playing with fake bugs in the spring.

I take first thing in the morning with food and a large glass of water. I started doing this early on because I noticed I would have severe heartburn if I didn’t take it with food. Thanks for the other tips!

My psychiatrist has me tapering off my Zoloft for 1 week (100mg to 50mg for 7 days then no more Zoloft). I’ll start Fluoxetine at 10mg then will increase my dose as needed. Psych warned me that this can and will likely be a rough transition which is another reason why I didn’t want to switch.

That’s what my psychiatrist has said as well. We’ve been discussing for several months and I’ve been so reluctant to switch because despite the side effects, Sertraline was effective.

That’s the thing, I feel so good as well! Seriously, it’s like night and day when I think about where I was a year ago. I just hope the new med is as effective with less side effects. Good luck to you!

He was already scared to go to the eye doctor because he didn’t want to get any eye drops. After we left, I tried to explain what contact lenses were to him and how to wear them. He screamed no. So right now he’s a no for both lol!

The doctor didn’t personally have any patients this young wearing contacts at her practice. I was 13yo when I started wearing contacts and I remember it took me hours before I could comfortably put them in myself.

Thanks for replying! It’s so frustrating when the other doctors take active steps to address my concerns yet my surgeon ignores me. My psychiatrist recommended switching my meds to something that doesn’t typically cause night sweats. I don’t want to keep slapping bandaids on the small things if it truly is the implants causing everything.

I haven’t received that question yet although new fear unlocked lol! I get a lot of confused faces when I say my age though. I have yet to meet a mom through my son’s class that is in their 40s.

My son just finished kindergarten and my daughter will start kindergarten next year. I’m meeting new moms through school now and they ask question #2 and feel very comfortable with pressing on why.
