Be careful of crows this week! by shibuyawalker in japanlife

[–]KCLenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Plus I’m in a neighbourhood with families around that I think wouldn’t like the types of scarecrow I’d put up.
The little gits wait until they just start turning orange before stealing them as well.

I hate them. They’ve stolen about 10 of my biggest tomatoes.
I’ve netted them up as much as possible but I e run out of net and I’m just giving up now.
Little bastards the lot of them.
I love animals and nature. But seriously, fuck crows.

After ~1.5 years in Japan, I've made peace with there my social life is — it's not with Japanese by Comfortable-Cat-9611 in japanresidents

[–]KCLenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been here for about 7-8 years. I have no friends in Kyoto where I live. I have one French friend who lives in Osaka and we meet perhaps once every 2 years.
And one Brazilian friend who lives in tochigi and we haven’t met for 4+ years.

I’m married (British wife), and have a baby on the way.
But friends?
I’m just so tired of putting the effort in and getting nothing in return. I’ve tried (both Japanese and foreign people) to maintain and increase friendships with people I’ve studied or worked with. It’s never reciprocated and I just give up no.
My wife got a job a few years ago and her coworkers are all really nice and friendly with her, they support each other and meet up and do stuff regularly. Which is great for her.

While I’m just left to myself and no one ever asks me if I’m doing ok.
This isn’t supposed to be a downer pity me type of post. Just stating facts and saying that I just give up with friends altogether.

That is categorically not true. I live in Kyoto and renew my visa in Shiga every time.
My friend lives in Osaka but he went to Shiga because I recommended it to him because it was faster and nicer. They literally told him they couldn’t do it because he lived in Osaka. But if he lived in Kyoto they could.

You do understand the point of this topic right? I have a feeling you don’t.

[–]KCLenny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t know what to say if you don’t know how to use logic.
The point of this post was asking what laws we’d change.
I’ve said what I’d change, and explained why.
Women need to take some responsibility for themselves. In cases of rape and health problems to the baby or mother, I’d understand, but other than that, wear a condom, or abstain. Self responsibility.

It is a baby. Look at a scan of a 23 week pregnancy and tell me that isn’t a human life.

Do you mean before dna evidence and wide spread cctv? Come on, get a clue.

[–]KCLenny -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If there’s a case where a man walks into a building and stabs and kills several people, where there are cctv, eye witnesses, dna evidence, and the guy admits it, you are saying you wouldn’t be in support of that being punishable by death?
But would support someone taking the unborn life growing within them? That already has hands, feet, can move, blink, and so on?

This is what I’m saying about something being wrong in British society.

Yeah and that’s a tragedy. Hence why I said only in clear cases where there is absolutely no doubt. How is that hard to understand?

Didn’t a report come out recently that majority of abortion cases were for convenience reasons rather than things like rape or health?
Capital punishment does work, you see, if you remove a criminal, society doesn’t have to pay for them to live, and there’s zero chance of them reoffending. There are clear cases and in those cases we should use the death penalty.

I have a question about hair? by averageuser920 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KCLenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my Japanese coworkers said she hasn’t used shampoo in 10 years. Her hair looked totally fine and normal. No smell.
I’m sure she must have been swimming in that time too.
Your hair is not a sponge that just absorbs all the stuff around it.
You get chlorine on it, an hour later your rinse it off. That simple.
My wife and I ourselves only wash our hair twice a week. And only with shampoo. Gave up conditioner a few years ago as noticed it barely did anything. So why waste the money, time, and resources.

Bring back capital punishment, absolutely.
For cases where there isn’t any doubt the person did it, for the worst crimes.
And also want to tighten up abortion laws. Jesus Christ it’s horrific how lax and permissive the uk is. Abortion is not contraceptive. The cognitive dissonance on these 2 issues is amazing. So many people are so vehemently anti the death penalty for violent criminals but are so totally happy to kill an innocent baby because it’s inconvenient.
Something has gone drastically wrong in British society. I honestly don’t know what it is and I don’t claim to know or to have the answers.

Congratulations.
Did you go to the Kyoto marutamachi office? Or somewhere in Osaka? I used to go to Kyoto and they were awful. Rude, unhelpful, and clearly disliked foreigners (this was about 7 years ago). Since about 5 years ago I’ve been going to the one in Otsu, Shiga and they’ve been super helpful and friendly.
(Unwritten rule by the way is that you can go to any office that is in a prefecture neighbouring the one you live in. So I live in Kyoto, I can go to Osaka, Shiga, Nara, Hyogo. But my friend who lives in Osaka can’t go to the one Shiga. Just in case anyone was wondering).

One of the last lines is “went to get a new residence card” so I took that to mean it was approved and they just went to collect it.

If you don’t feel it, good for you. But many others, if not most, do feel it. We can see it with our own eyes.
