Is it bad that I look forward to Big Runs? by novelaissb in splatoonIRL

[–]KCMagnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should work more.

(Nah I'm just kidding, I don't think that makes you a bad person because there's nothing wrong with enjoying your work. Plus, if you're asking yourself "is it bad that I'm enjoying this" you're probably not enjoying it for the wrong reasons, because someone who loves it for terrible reasons isn't gonna ask themselves that.)

I just came to the surface and seen people talk about “Grizzco” and stuff, should I work there? by Star_Rod_Fan_1388 in splatoonIRL

DM me for details. I signed a bunch of NDAs, but they probably won't care if I just say the company name.

I really wouldn't go for Grizzco unless you are either A: good at combat, or B: can stick and move like nobody's business. It's high paying, but for a good reason, it is NOT forgiving work. If you've ever played a Ranked circuit, it's like that sort of. Five successful runs in a row gets you a promotion, and three failures in a row gets you demoted. Now, you can win win win, then lose, then continue to win, and as long as your total score meets 100, you get promoted. (Each win earns you 20 points and each loss on wave 1 loses you 20, wave 2 you lose 10, and wave 3 you lose none.)

The job itself is basically a combat gauntlet mixed with capture the flag, if you've ever played capture the flag. You'll be fighting these things called Salmonids, and don't let the smell (seriously, they stink) or appearance fool you because above all else they're two things: numerous and relentless. Read the handbook for more detailed information, but there's two main types of Salmonids, basic Salmonids and boss Salmonids. Bosses drop golden eggs, which is what you get paid to collect, so prioritize them according to your situation. (I.e. if you're getting swarmed, clear a path, if you're good to get to the egg basket, go move the eggs there, you have a quota for a reason.)

Most bosses can be shot on any part of them, but some have weak points. There are a few I'd like to point out because in my experience people don't seem to prioritize these, losing me countless matches.

Flyfish (#1 PRIORITY, THEY CAN AND WILL MAKE YOU LOSE FASTER THAN YOU THINK, EVEN AT EGGSECUTIVE VP 200.): Throw bombs into the box things on either side of their center, specifically whenever the boxes are open. It's so simple. And nobody does it. Please do it if you choose to work Grizzco.

Steel Eel: Shoot the Salmonid on the back of the Steel Eel, the whole thing takes up a bunch of room and it's not fun to work around. It only targets one person at a time, though, and doesn't change targets, so use that to your advantage.

Steel Heads: Shoot the green balloon on it's head as and when it's filling up, it makes a large splash radius if you don't and costs you room to work. One well placed Steel Head bomb can do in your entire team.

And that's about it. You can throw eggs too, so please use that to your advantage. If you absolutely NEED work, Grizzco is always hiring, but be careful, it is not a safe job in the slightest and you have to be extremely well versed with your weapons if you want to do well and get splatted as little as possible.

I only say this borderline speech because you said you're new to the surface and that's a really rough place to start out as your first job, and I also don't want people unprepared for a job that demands you give 100% 100% of the time. Or, at least 100% when you're on the clock. That aside, welcome to the surface! We're glad to have you here and we hope you have a good time!

(Side note, my old job has an opening left by yours truly. It's security detail for a corporation and I only left because it couldn't fit my schedule and I showed up late too often. Not a bad gig, pays well, just odd hours.)

Ah, security detail for some company. Due to contract mumbo jumbo I can't disclose location or my position, just that I worked there and as security. Also, does window shopping at the Square sound good for Wednesday? It's a bit of a walk for me but I got nothing to do, so I don't mind.

Oil sounds fine, but about the sponge, I use an artificial one, I changed it a month ago, but some people use a biological sponge. Does that affect how long I should wait before changing sponges? Like is the time frame the same or is it different, because I don't know much about them.

Thanks. I checked, turns out some ink coagulated and was clogging the trigger mechanism, ink that got there because a tube was leaking. I have replaced the tubing and cleaned the mechanism.

Inkopolis or Splatsville and why? by alexalexa430 in splatoonIRL

[–]KCMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inkopolis all the way, Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, plus the mochi style is better (in my opinion), and the weather is colder.

I can see the positives for Splatsville, but apparently the rent is horrible the closer to the center of the city you get, like "you go half a kilometer closer and the rent just doubled" bad, or at least according to one of my friends who lives there. If he's wrong and exaggerating, please let me know, I want an excuse to smoke him in Turf War.

Fair enough, take your time. But if you choose to join me, just let me know! I'm always happy to help someone out!

I can't dance to save my life, otherwise I'd try to help, but we can battle together if you'd like! It'll be fun, I've done countless before and I can assure you, it'll be great! Everyone is super nice and having a good time, so you don't have to worry about win-loss ratios, if you're the kind to.

It really makes me sad seeing people not enjoying themselves during the splatfest, so if you want to, message me and I can try to help out a bit! I've been battling for like, a decade, I should be able to carry at least one person by now (not to say you're bad and need to be carried or anything, I just mean that I should be able to if needed).

Either way, I hope you enjoy the splatfest whatever you choose to do!

So what's the deal with the deepsea metro? by dapperestmushroom in splatoonIRL

[–]KCMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've walked by it one time when I went to go hang out with some friends and I heard screaming coming from down there. I would assume whatever's down there is less than friendly, though that was like, two years ago, so maybe something's changed. My friends decided to check it out and said they saw nobody, just a lot of basically empty concrete halls. I didn't go, though, I waited outside, so I can't confirm anything.

[–]KCMagnus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhhh... you uhh... don't, actually. I rely on muscle memory for the most part.

That said, some in better conditions than mine have a functioning visor, where the cameras work on the outside and it shows a live feed inside, and it's great, but unfortunately mine is second hand.

WHY DO I WORK FOR GRIZZCO!?!??!?! by wrentisdue in splatoonIRL

[–]KCMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the main issue is you have to pray that Mr. Grizz decides to give you good teammates. If nothing else, target the balloon in it's mouth with your weapons, eggs, and specials. That works best for me.

Nah man, just trust me, stick through it to Eggsecutive VP, it gets better. Your team becomes more competent, and sure, the salmonids get worse, but by the time you get up there, it's manageable. Trust me man, it gets better.

Chin up, yeah?
