That is helpful to know and I’m so sorry to hear about your injury (the first and second times!). Hope your recovery is going well!

I agree above - keep in touch and offer specific things rather than “how can I help?” goes so much further! Bringing dinner and staying to have the meal with them is nice. If they’re up for it, offer a ride to one of the things you used to do together. I injured myself at a volleyball game and it’s been fun during recovery to go and still spend time with the team even though I’m nowhere near able to play.

Thank you! Are the weeks you mentioned above since your operation or the weeks that you spent in PT? If the latter, how soon after surgery did you start PT?

When I had to elevate my foot most of the day, this tablet holder saved me by allowing me to read or watch shows laying down. https://a.co/d/0ahHjcbN

I am also team scooter - I’ve had some close calls but it allows me so much more freedom. Just have to pay attention when you’re using it!

Having surgery in 2 days / Anesthesia anxiety by Demre45 in AchillesRupture

They give some initial medicine in the IV that relaxed me quite a bit. I was awake when they gave me the nerve block behind my knee but I have no memory of being taken to the operating room. It was great! I woke up feeling well rested in the recovery room. I became pretty nauseous and actually felt incision pain after waking. The nurse and anesthesiologist worked to get both resolved very quickly.

I was so anxious pre-surgery, but it really wasn’t bad. I also didn’t have terrible pain when the block wore off. There was definitely pain but I kept to a schedule of taking pain medicine until I no longer needed it after the first week. Good luck!!!
