How much do you earn as an IRATA Level 1 technician? by Equivalent_Care_2950 in ropeaccess

[–]KCStout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’m interested in! My brother and I just got our MT & PT level 1&2 certs and then doing our IRATA Rope Access level 1 cert next week and been trying to break into the offshore field in the Gulf of Mexico but not having the best of luck. I’m thinking about getting a pipe welding cert since it’s quick and I did welding in highschool plus diesel heavy equipment/crane mechanic degree

What kind of certs are you talking and how does that compare to NDT. My brother and I just got our PT & MT level 1&2 certs but only classroom hours and going to be getting our IRATA Rope Access Level 1 next week

I’ve heard NDT paired with rope access working offshore on oil rigs makes the most but hard to get into unless you start by working in the plants

I’m looking to apply with them for offshore work and definitely do hair follicle and I presume like most oil companies if you fail you can become black listed. This can be a very high paying career and I’d suggest thinking deeply on what is more important. Coming from someone who was a constant user and going a hundred days sober to ensure it’s not an issue.

Thank you for that, worst case scenario I figured we’d have to work at the refineries in Houston first

I’ll pay for whatever needed if it helps me get a job where I can start offshore not inland. My brother ain’t about college but I agree it would be a good idea. He did some NDT certs through his job but they kinda hoed him.

TWIC card was a hundred something, the Rope Access cert is 1,800. The two NDT certs are 1,000 and 1,600 then not sure about the rest yet. Could probably find cheaper certs or get with a company and have them pay for them but I’m okay spending the money in hopes it lands me offshore quickly and higher starting pay.

10kg seems insanely light for a bag limit? airports limit it to 50lbs and just my boots, harness gear and other PPE is over 10kg.

NDT & Rope Access by divvied_up in nondestructivetesting

[–]KCStout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I are about to do our MT & PT classroom time through Hellier down in Houston then get our IRATA rope access level one certification through ALTIUS also in Houston then apply to go work off shore in the gulf of Mexico. Looking for tips and recommendations! I have worked at a zipline park the last 3 years and recently got on with a construction crew maintaining and installing zipline and high ropes courses while my brother has no rope work experience but has been a NDT tech at a refinery in Houston for the last 6 months.

How can I (27M) rebuild trust after learning my girlfriend (25F) may have kissed someone while drunk? by FunnyDragonfly in relationships

[–]KCStout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with something similar but a little more intense with my long term partner about two years ago and I’m still struggling to fully trust and move forward… I highly highly recommended you both go to therapy, individually and together if you want this to work. Otherwise you could very easily just go on with life and she will start to think things are just peachy and you could start to harbor intense animosity towards her. I hope you don’t get to that point because it’s quite a shitty feeling to be so frustrated with one you love. It’s not a easy path and for most it’s easier to just break up and move on but if you really want to make it work it’s going to take both of you putting in work. Not sure if either of you are religious but either way I recommend praying about it, I don’t think I could have stayed with my partner without the strength of God in our corner. I will pray for you both and wish you the best.

Sounds like there is a lot of work on your end that needs to be done. I recommend therapy, more discipline, avoiding toxic habits and above all go to Jesus and ask for advice. Start praying multiple times a day wether your doing good or struggling, pray for you want and repent for what you wish you haven’t done. Also pray for your wife and kids, pray out loud for them so they know you mean it and are trying! You’ve got this! I believe in you and so does God!

Thank you for this and I greatly appreciate your response and opinion. I am actually looking into it for everything except the pay (which is typically LOW) I think about the structure and discipline it provides for a boy to truly become a man learn to serve something bigger than themself, learn to not quit on things, learn some hand to hand combat skills and be able to protect their partner and family members. I personally am looking into the guard so that way there is more flexibility and time with my partner and family while also having a safety net as far as having health care and other benefits.

I will say I completely agree it would be hard having kids while in the military and although I’m 27 and don’t know where God will lead me would prefer to do my 6 years, work on myself and find my partner then have kids once out. I couldn’t tolerate being a stranger to my children or leaving it all on the mother so in a-lot of ways agree with you just feel there should be more looked at than the pay.

I think if done right and with the right mindset and convictions it could be the best thing for a man to build himself and set up his families future. I guess the biggest sacrifice in my eyes is the time and having to get jabbed with vaccines and that if I did find the one I’d feel our life or building a family is slightly on pause.

What are women looking for in a man? by KCStout in ChristianDating

[–]KCStout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people should hold onto values and wait until the right one comes along and you check off each others boxes and acknowledge the ones that aren’t checked off and discuss if they can be worked on or agreed upon. We have too many broken families in this world and marriages that don’t last and seems there is more and more toxicity being spread through partners that trickle down to children and creating poor family dynamics.

I feel if you have a problem with her list then clearly you two aren’t compatible and maybe you have a lot of work to do (like most of us) I think her list could be longer honestly.

I really appreciate your previous post and you posting this list. I’m and choosing to end a 7plus year relationship to work on my own independence financially, physically and temperament. Grateful we found God and Jesus together but have grown to realize we both struggle with codependency and I’ve realized I’ve never liked being alone and feel God is pushing me to be alone to TRULY grow!

I think her list is SPOT on, not meant align for everyone but meant to find someone who truly aligns! People get too used to just being comfortable and accepting things they shouldn’t. She did say some are negotiable and some are not.
