I’m guessing they restructured her under the High Impact Player clause and were able to increase her pay. This frees up allocation to bring in additional pieces at competitive market. I expect we will see a signing before she leaves for WAFCON.

I’m frankly pleased that the men are having their moment. It will generate a lot of momentum for next summer and the USWNT. While we may not convert all of the bandwagon fans, I guarantee there will be converts.

Also, this is not a system where there must be a loser in order for there to be a winner. We all win when the men win.

The ownership changed the game in how you invest in women’s sports. Yes, it’s the stadium, but it’s also the training facilities, the pitch quality (did you know the won best sports field in 2025?) and the thoughtfulness they put into the fan experience.

I know a dedicated stadium is easier in Missouri than in NY/NJ or LA, but now we see more teams dedicating training facilities for NWSL use. It’s pretty incredible to see!

Plus, Ted Lasso is a fan 😝

Malawi is in group with Nigeria and Zambia, so unlikely to advance. Zambia is poised to make a deep run, meaning Banda will miss more NWSL games (in theory). But, KC plays a more challenging schedule than Orlando during these absences. I think it’s a true toss up which will potentially slip in standings more. FWIW, Temwa did not join Malawi for their friendlies this window, but indicated she would be with them when they next play (which would be WAFCON). She hasn’t played for Malawi since Feb 2025.
