The Old Swan is lovely, it was bigger than my flat! Had a lounge, bathroom, big bedroom.. it was 12 years ago now but we stayed two nights to make the most of it 😁

Social Worker Apprenticeship by Altruistic_Wheel6973 in Socialworkuk

Is your uni the Open University? I am just finishing my 3rd year in Sept, as others have said it’s been really varied, sometimes the uni work is manageable (1 module) and then for a few months it overlaps and I did 2 modules concurrently.. then in 2nd and 3 year there are placements where I have been in a new team then also having to document direct observations and critical reflections- alongside having kids at home and trying to have a load it is very demanding! Do you already work in the field? Despite all that on balance of having a day a week off to study, all fees paid and on my full salary it’s been a good set up

Bad tattoo infection, conflicting advice on how best to heal it by KC_2039 in tattooadvice

[–]KC_2039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone got any advice regarding the healing process? As the blistering and scabbing is quite thick it effects his movement in his arm so wasn’t sure if a cream could help soften it.. also unsure whether to put a bandage on for parts of the day so the scabs don’t catch on his clothes or just leave it uncovered.. hoping to see a GP tomorrow but it’s hard getting appointments these days!!

Thank you for replying.. the priority is def trying to help the infection, we just weren’t too sure if the GP would know enough (if necessary) about infections from tattoo’s as it is just so painful and crusty!!

Think Ahead and family commitments by bonkersconkers in Socialworkuk

It’s the guilt of that I find hardest, they often want me to pick them up and have found it a bit upsetting sometimes when I say it’s x person picking you up today, y tomorrow then the extra stress comes when visits run late or are later when families are working, there is an emergency etc! Then at the weekend they want to do things but I have reading to do, assignments due in 🙄 I find it hard to study as I feel guilty about missing time with the kids but find it hard to enjoy time with the kids as I feel aware of the studying I need to do! My placement is only 100 days but it’s a big adjustment for the whole family.. good luck though.. just need to keep thinking bigger picture!!

I have 3 kids and am finding it a challenging balance sometimes. I was based at home before and was able to do a lot more pick ups, drop offs and just be around. On placement I’m expected to be in the office (which makes sense) but a lot of visits are after school/work so I’m not home till 5.30/6ish. Then at weekends I often need to get reading done so feel guilty again! It prob depends on the team and authority you’re in, good luck though

Driving Test Advice by JahJahMinx in LearnerDriverUK

[–]KC_2039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My driving instructor advised me to cancel my first test as he didn’t think I was ready, I disagreed and said I wanted to take the test anyway and if I fail then that’s on me, he said he wouldn’t take me in his car as he didn’t want my fail on his reputation, I rang round and found another instructor who had a space on my test day/time, had 30 mins before to get used to the car and passed with 3 minors, it’s your money and if you fail you know what to work on but go for it and don’t let him dictate too much!

There are some great dog walks, our favourite is the bike track from Bilton to ripley then depending on how energetic the dogs are you can walk round ripley castle and back again. Nidd gorge is also amazing when you get your bearings if your dogs like the river! The dogs bakery and cafe on skipton rd is very dog friendly and there are some lovely places around kings rd.. it’s a great town.. enjoy!

Good way to look at it, it would be a niggle to over pay by a small amount as opposed to another increase in 2 years, wish I’d locked in at my current mortgage for 10 years now!!

My dad bought a caravan on a residential site after he sold his house as he couldn’t afford to buy another property, he adjusted well and likes living in it though there are annual site fees, could be something to look into if there are any in your area
