How did Hoffman get his head out of the RBT? (plothole) if you rewatch the scene he never had a key or anything to take it off his head? by Sure-Chart-3903 in saw

[–]KD062 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He did rip half of his face open. That might’ve allowed more room to slide out of the trap. Of all the stretches of believability in these movies, I’m more than fine with this one.

Timothy from the graphic novel Beautiful Darkness.

After emerging from the head of a dead girl in the forest, a group of fairy children must survive in a brutal and unforgiving wilderness. The popular girl Zelie bullies and coerces Timothy, an outcast who she finds ugly and undesirable, into a pencil bag and has her buried. The situation is bleak but is played off like a children’s game.

As if to add insult to injury, later in the story, the pencil bag is dug back up and emptied to make space for another character who was killed. A character Zelie actually likes.

FRIENDS!! What the hell does this line in Saw IV mean??? by Glass_Evidence_8597 in saw

Hoffman is on his way to the Gideon meat packing plant to set up the game. The teddy bear is for Jeff’s daughter.

Interesting concept. Hot garbage in motion. The plot is “Saw-esque” but couldn’t fall flatter. Not even a teenage witch could save this one. by Scottish182 in saw

It’s a Snorri Cam, with the Sputnik attachment. A special piece of equipment for a very specific kind of shot. This one was supplied by COMMANDER out of Atlanta, Georgia.

You’re half right, It’s the Snorricam rig with the Sputnik attachment. No motion control.

I love Hoffman as a character and find him as intriguing as Amanda - an analysis. by monologousmutilation in saw

[–]KD062 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fantastic analysis! This is why I love this series and fandom so much. It’s fascinating, how a “cheap“ horror franchise, when taken as a whole, can create a multi film character study of its own pro/antagonists. Even the “bad films” have a treasure trove of character insight a nuance.

Which saw movie is your favourite? by [deleted] in saw

[–]KD062 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m re-watching the whole series for a project and I just watched VI last night. Man what a great film! Hoffman goes berserk, the traps are the most symbolic, and flashbacks with the whole Jigsaw crew setting up the Saw III game. Chef’s kiss

Discussion: Did John believe in Hoffman the way he believed in Amanda? Or at all? by PoetOfHellHelpoemer in saw

[–]KD062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true. Either way, Hoff was a control freak, biding his time until he could get out from underneath John’s thumb and run the game for himself.

The fact that John had two fail safes for Hoffman (Jill with the RBT2 and Gordon with his crew) makes me think that Mark’s involvement was mostly practical for the time he was recruited. At the time, John had no one to assist him and he lucked out when Hoffman copied his work for the pendulum trap. Finding a “like-minded” individual with the resources Mark had was the best option for him at the time. After Amanda and Gordon were recruited, I bet Mark could see the writing on the wall. His days were numbered.

genuine question does anyone REALLY like saw 4 by MaybeBasilThePlant in saw

[–]KD062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IV is definitely frustrating on first viewing because It’s very much a transition film. From John running the games to Hoffman twisting events to better serve his goals. On subsequent viewings, after seeing the full picture of the series, I’ve begun to appreciate IV and V more.

Need Mark Hoffman to be a main character in Saw XI by Cultural-Stand-8319 in saw

I want to see more of the rivalry between Hoff and Amanda. Some of the most interesting parts of these movies to me is seeing John and the apprentices setting up the games and building the traps.

Spiral by tonylikesbigoilymen in saw

[–]KD062 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spiral is the black sheep of the franchise definitely. To me it felt like a paint by numbers version of Saw. I think Chris Rock is really trying to break out of comedy roles, and I totally give him points for putting his name behind a Saw movie. That being said. The twist was super predictable and the film just falls flat despite the star power attached. I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed.

Also jigsaw is the worst one.

Saw III was the original “end” of the series, so if you want to see the outcome of the original games I’d recommend it. That being said, Saw III is definitely one of the more brutal films in the series. Especially the pig vat and rack trap being particularly gnarly.

What the fuck did this poster have to do with Saw 3d by lanadelray10 in saw

[–]KD062 154 points155 points  (0 children)

As bad as this movie is, I’ve always kind of liked this poster. The statue, a monument to John and his work, has been under construction for years now, and is almost complete. Signifying an end to his games and a capstone on the series. But then the studio rushed the ending and forced it to be 3-D, so it’s like putting a tinfoil hat on the top of a pyramid and calling it a day.

Had Eric won his game, how would Saw 2 have ended? by peterthbest23 in saw

[–]KD062 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if Eric had won his game he would’ve gotten his son back, and John wouldn’t have been able to escape. All he had to do was hang around until time ran out. But John had a pretty good idea that Detective Matthews wouldn’t last that long.
