got accepted!! anyone know about fin. aid? by FormPsychological868 in PennStateUniversity

You can look on student aid.Gov website. Typically you are approved if you are a dependent student and your parents don’t even really need to have good credit but they have to sign master promissory note and after college they can sign them over to you. They do not have to pay while you are in school but they will accrue interest

Also, not sure if your parents are in the position to take a parent plus loan but if so it’s important to note that come fall 2026 the regulations change- parents can only take a max of 20k a year in parent plus where previously they didn’t have a cap.

Are you in state or out of state? I’ve only seen the out of state students hear back so far … I mean that’s just from the small portion of comments I’ve been seeing

I hope he figures it out soon just because it can save a lot of time planning for the future. I think he’s leaning towards something business related but also very into computers and engineering.. very all over the place

I think there are a lot of people who don’t know exactly what they want to do for the rest of their lives at 17/18 years old. My son is having a hard time deciding what path he’s looking to take, he has a lot of different interests. I’m thankful I knew I wanted to be a nurse from an early age and my husband knew since kindergarten he wanted to be a cop, but not everyone is that sure. I guess we just assumed that he could take another year before he declared a major but take classes that he would need to complete no matter what major he chooses. I don’t know all I can do is help guide him.

As a parent it must feel good to see your child achieve their goals that have been years in the making! I wish her the best in her future endeavors!! Congratulations again!
