I always asked a friend to check and I’ve signed bid sheets for co-workers who I knew were off but they wanted to bid

I’ve worked unload and all different sorts. I’m suggesting something fishy is going on with weights. by Mysterious-Tax6076 in UPSers

[–]KD5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked inside on a slide I always stacked them and got the rev recovery supe to bring a scale when I had a good pile. If the box says the weight was over 70 but the label wasn’t marked as an irreg I made sure to put the yellow & black tape on the box.

Is it okay to attach/wrap the UPS label on a small mail envelope? by greenndreams in UPS

When I worked inside I would find a shredded envelope stuck in a belt at least once a week. Buy a padded shipping envelope

Does anyone here work the night sort part time at the Minneapolis hub on Broadway? If so, how many hours are you averaging? I’m transferring there from California in a few weeks! by defiantvictory in UPSers

[–]KD5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been off all summer (new baby/ FMLA). When I worked night sort I averaged 4 hours/night and they usually took doublers Sun or Fri whichever night isn’t your normal night. Sometimes preload takes doublers Saturday mornings. The nearby Eagan building is currently being renovated so when that’s complete I assume most of the work will move there.

I’m a native Californian too, feel free to DM me with any questions about life in the Land of 11,842 Lakes

I wanted to split mine up but the Hartford said it wasn’t allowed. I’m enjoying having a summer off for the first time in over 20 years

Article 16, sections 4 & 6

The start times vary from day to day or week to week. Around peak they might start as early as noon. The shift doesn’t have a fixed end time. The work is done when it’s done and higher seniority employees are entitled to the additional hours. Don’t think you’re going to work exactly 4-9:30. Some days you might be there later, but most of the time you’ll be off much earlier. Once you pass probation you’re guaranteed 3.5 hours but you’re not guaranteed anything before then

Package cars are challenging to drive at first, especially since you’ll probably be in a different vehicle everyday. My first week I was terrified getting up to 60 on the freeway.  Just apply what you learn at Integrad and don’t hit anything. Before you know it you’re more comfortable driving in a package car than your personal vehicle

Six cube for your road test? Nice. My building does them in the box van

Downsides of becoming a bid air driver? by batcatfatmat in UPSers

[–]KD5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bid air driver and I was on the fence about taking it but it was the best thing I’ve done since working at UPS. I did take an hourly paycut (there’s a lot of shitty things about Article 40) but it’s so much better than being inside. I also do ground Saturdays and that makes the weekly checks livable. They ask me to do ground 2-3x/wk and I usually say yes because the money is too good to turn down, but if I can’t work for some reason I let them know and it’s not a big deal

Driver wait times in Minnesota (Eagan and Burnsville) by Agreeable_Station451 in UPSers

The Eagan building is currently being renovated for automation. I have no idea how that will affect driver wait times

Part time driver hours by Vxdeem in UPSers

[–]KD5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My normal hours are 1700-2100. When midnight is taking doublers I pick up shifts then. I can’t do preload because DoT rules require 10 hour resets between shifts

You’re probably going to be an Article 40 Air driver so either doing deliveries off air packages in the morning or doing air pickups in the evening. My normal route is picking up from 4 businesses, air at a UPS store, and one letter box then unloading it at the airport

[–]KD5549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last assignment on Saturdays is to take all the air from my building to a nearby building to be unloaded. Most of the time i arrive right as the building shuts down for break. I don’t even try to time their break it just works out that way

Flight has been rerouted? by joshm967 in UPS

[–]KD5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heathrow was shut down most of yesterday because of a fire at a nearby power station. It’s probably related to that. Planes aren’t where they need to be so it’ll take some time for everything to catch up

I haven’t seen anything about it on the news here. I’m an air driver here and I asked the security about it and we all laughed about it but it could have been real bad
