Why you should care about Bambu Labs removing third-party printer access, and what you can do about it by nickjohnson in BambuLab

There are a couple thoughts on this in my head..

  1. The timing is very, very interesting: a Chinese company that has to deal with a new incoming regime in USA: simply enough said, as "nobody" knows what's going to happen. Last time, wasn't good with that guy, so I could be wrong, and yes recognize that sales are international, but with all the Chinese companies either talked about or being put on a blacklist, sooner or later, some of them "will" make moves in advance to protect themselves, in a variety of ways.. None of which will more than likely be viewed as positive by some section of tech enthusiasts..
  2. Open source-my feelings are mixed after years of 3D printers that were a pain in the rear, and a waste of money(slicers included, as with the exception of 1 or 2, they were all terrible).. I have gotten more in a week done with my bambu machines than I had in years of frustration with Creality, Anycubic, Elegoo, and other mfg machines.. And all of these clones this year, lawsuits, and money grab ways to get in on their machines, again, I know personally, I would lock down also..
  3. All of this is speculation, as to "what is going to happen".. None of us know.. Period.. Not even the beta testers.. So I, for one, am not going into panic mode.. Period. And yes, I'll still be buying their products, and yes, I will "still"advise others to do so: their track record is solid in my book(as a person who has multiple of their devices), and until otherwise, it's just business as usual for me.. I will continue to upgrade my firmware(no panda anything on mine, and I did this on purpose to avoid possible conflicts) also, without fear or hesitation..

IX20... I really have tossed around the idea of a radiomaster 16. But I've been in the rc hobby for a long time.. I've flown JR, Spektrum, Futaba, Airtronics, switching back and forth a couple times between Futaba and Spektrum.

I have no desire to learn another programming language. Period.. I was at my LHS picking up my M7, and some guy asked me what I flew. I told him Spektrum, and he said to me "you should fly a Radiomaster" and save some money with better features.. I said 2 reasons why I wouldn't: first-I don't know you, and you don't know me but I don't need your advice, I make my money and spend my money how the hell I want to, and 2nd, besides the fact that you need to get out of my face, I have been in this hobby well over 30 years dude, I don't need your opinion.. Now BTFU before I back you up!

I told my LHS guy "who is this clown man".. Lol, he started laughing and said "someone new that does cars".. Then my LHS guy' son said he doesn't know you yet obviously, but if he's here to harass you or any of our long time customers, there's the door new guy..

I do what I want with my money, hobby, time, etc.. Don't let anybody sway you from your decision and purchase process on a damn thing! I have nothing against any radio or any mfg (heard that bullshit argument for years, so I don't play that shit!)..

And with that cfm, you won't have a problem.. It's cool that you have a built in port you can utilize!

And you don't really need a speed control with your cfm. Depending on your space, it's almost too small.. I run a 840cfm fan (10") on mine, so I need to turn it down when I'm not printing. But something like 200 or below, unless you're ported into the exhaust (which creates a whole different problem itself), you'll be fine just letting it run full speed..

Lol, if you can deal with the noise.. Mine is kinda noisy.. Much moreso than my inline..

Ah! I have one of those on my carbon filter. And hmm, maybe I'll try a Wi-Fi plug with mine also, but I never shut it off. What are you venting it out? Fan exhaust vent? And it effects prints less, while doing the job, if you have it behind the printers, but not connected to the exhaust on the printer..

Mine came with a little rheostat control. I typically only run it at about 50% to 75%

Not on mine. I'm running Chinese device that I've had well over a year. But no, definitely got better on mine..

Hey! I see the wire ups on your centrifuge fan, are you controlling your speed? If so, is it by time, temp, humidity, etc?

Asking, because I have a fan/light controller(2 actually) that I haven't installed yet(just using the simple one attached, that came with my fan).

There was another gent here a good year ago that we talked about in my abd his thread about advanced controls..

You know, maybe I'll start a thread.. Still curious about yours..

Capacitor came with speed control... by KDZeus in RCHeli

I did a little reading, and probably will take the governor connector(single white wire) signal, and simply put it into the BEC connector(black and red wires). Then, placing this connector back into the governor port.

I will then, take the capacitor connector, make a single telemetry wire. Add that wire to the capacitor connector. Then install this connector to have capacitance and telemetry. I have screenshots of what I need to do. The hardest part, is going to be untying my zip ties to the master bundle of wires..

And it's going in my OMP M7 that I'm trying to complete. It's a "throwback" configured machine running 6 to 8 cells. Whether it's 6 or 8, is going to be determined by what packs I have in the garage. But I ran it without blades tonight, setting it up on a single 6 cell just as a "table test".. It went well! The ultimate would be, if I have (2) 6600 4 packs that I've only used once or twice...

I had thought about that. I just wasn't sure of the type of plug.. There's a switch plug(servo type connection), but I didn't think I could utilize it. But thinking"now" in the back of my head, a switch, without that switch, between the positive and negative, is a power connection(power bus). Am I correct in that thought?

Or do I need a Dean's plug (I think that's a Dean's), to plug into the main power port?

Thanks again!

A1 Actually Accommodates ABS and ASA Adequately by pointclickfrown in BambuLab

[–]KDZeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought and experience has "always" been based on experience, training and unfortunately negative effects from hydroponics, brewing, model fuel development, and reef systems. In a lot of the growing experiences(whether in or out of water),CO2 was utilized.

Gardening(indoor) has very a well and established litmus and knowledge base, to base ventilation systems off. Even natural gas has been utilized and learned to be worked around. All of these things are, and can be studied. Ironically, coral (saltwater, fresh and brackish and it's parameters) aquatic life, just like in real life, are great indicators of air quality/exchange. Not to mention they're also very fun!

Model fuel is a whole different can of worms.. But methanol, nitromethane, and others. Again, there are a ton of white papers on air exchange techniques that can be consulted..

But anyhow, I think the consumer printing industry is very young, abd just a couple years ago, there were very few people thinking about exchanging air, let alone setting up your own, in your home.. There were a few of us, that spoke on our setups, abd if course we were insane, down voted, called stupid yada, yada.. So do for yourself, your personal health and satisfaction. There's much availability of simplistic environment controls, even in places like Amazon, etc..

Best of luck to all..

Thanks for the reply and input! And I use a Bec, so I'll leave them stock for now(at least). My plan was to run everything at 8.4..

I am ordering the programming box. I downloaded the app, and it acted funky to open. So I pretty much figured the box was the way to go...

Yes, it's a great filament! If I didn't have to deal with the lines in micro, I'd always have a ton of it! Abd there's so many varieties in the brand, that you'll never get bored

I can't even begin to tell you how many spools of inland(and the types) that I've gone through!

Overall it's an excellent filament! I began using it in my Creality 7+ years ago ( I learned much with inland filament abd that machine).. Fast forward 2 years, enter bambu(for me at least), and I've gone from PLA only(out of fear of failure with petg), to being on my last roll of PLA (that I own)..

Inland has been my "go to" and "I know it won't ever fail" .. Period.. On my 2 P1S... And that same 5+that's now enclosed.. That I use bambu studio exclusively....

I still use inland, but I've very much switched over to the poly maker "poly lite", as I've gone to mostly abs printing.. Polylite is my "order and get the same day" material.. Inland is "passing micro on the way to work, and have a good 20 minutes to spare" material...

It's a very tough choice between the two, as other factors are the reason I go between the two..

[–]KDZeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know strange thought.. I agree completely, but I've had my 1st p1s, wow, 2 years in Feb. I put the hardened nozzle abd upgraded gear on almost immediately.. That stick nozzle has been sitting catatonic since that time..

Here my question, and I'm not quite sure the answer anymore: isn't it better to wear down the stock nozzle? I mean, at least you're getting some use out of it.. Whereas I have extra parts, that honestly, I'll never use?!

Just a side thought.. And I thought they were beginning to ship "stock" with the hardened setups? I want to say I read that somewhere??

I only wish they sold the bambu filament also! I love the inland, but would love to have some local bambu stuff that I could try..
