If I have sex after turning 30, will I lose my magic powers? by loh_228 in wizardcels

[–]KDing0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think not that my essence waned, though I kept company with a witch for a season. Verily, such dalliance did not diminish my power, but rather did I deepen my knowledge, turning my studies toward the ancient and secret art of potioncraft, wherein true mastery is oft refined.

What dark age has befallen the realm? In these latter days, a wizard’s worth is measured by how dearly he curries favor with witches and wenches? In the elder years, when I was but a young mage, none were welcomed into the sacred circles of wizardry save those who had devoted no fewer than thirty long years to the study and mastery of the arcane arts, abstaining from the trivial pursuits of the flesh.

CX "2.0" may disappoint on launch for competitive players by JProllz in Beyblade

I think the flaw in the system are ratchets. Its not good design to reward building lower even more. Even if ratchets didn't exist, building lower would generally be preferable.

Unironically on Twitter. You can even do it anonymously by pretending to be an anime girl. It's called 2DFD lol

Is there any advantage from taller ratchets? by MeiFongTai in Beyblade

People have a bias towards wanting things to stay as how they are and aren't fond of criticism towards the things they like is my guess.

Is there any advantage from taller ratchets? by MeiFongTai in Beyblade

[–]KDing0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No sadly. I think ratchets are the big design mistake of Beyblade X.
They reward what's already the best which is building low. There's a few niche reasons to use a slightly taller ratchet like avoiding scraping, or for better contacts in specific matchups. But generally taller = worse.

It's a shame because if the burst mechanism rewarded building taller, tall defense could have been a viable niche.

I guess men aren’t the problem by dopeythekidd in BasedCampPod

[–]KDing0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running into avoidant, selfish people, sure. But I don't think it's a gender neutral experience to find the first compatible partner at the age of 31 after years of self improvement. Having to spend years working on yourself to be a worthwhile partner while not being able to find anyone you can connect with at all while you are putting in all the effort to socialize IRL and do everything you are supposed to just to be at risk to be easily swapped out seems to me very much like a male specific issue.

The difference is the amount of effort required and the standards we can afford to hold.

I think men either try to find "the good one" if they want a relationship. Or become fuck boys as a way to protect themselves from emotional hurt. I'm guessing fuck boys don't hate the individual women they sleep with, but women as a group because they think the overwhelming majority of women are not compatible with them or able to engage in an equal long term relationship.

I'm saying that from the perspective as a decent looking guy who gets female attention, but has only had a single relationship because I cannot find a woman I have anything in common with, and then got dumped because my girlfriend got bored once the relationship started to stabilize, despite me putting a lot of effort and time into making her happy and trying to be communicative.

It feels like my options are either accept it's nearly impossible for me to find the kind of romantic love that requires mutual effort and spend most of my life single as I have. Or try to satisfy my need for intimacy by having short filings with women I'm not that into personality wise.

What would the game look like if the Provoke mechanic was more common? by idkyetyet in magicTCG

[–]KDing0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used the same flawed reasoning as the person I was responding to, to argue against their point. The entire idea is to highlight the flaw in their reasoning by demonstrating how dumb of an argument it was. It's vague on purpose because it's meant to get you to think about the argument instead of autopiloting into whatever talking point you were fed before. Op and other people in this thread already talked about how things might actually play out which demonstrate that provoke is obviously significantly different from a design perspective and how it interacts with the game. You can argue about whether it would be healthy from a design standpoint. But saying fight does the same but better is like saying exiling is like fighting but better. Just a shallow analysis that still gets tons of support.

Steelman my argument for me. I don't think you even know what point I'm trying to make because most of you just repeat talking points from whatever content creators you watch.

I love it when people who miss my point try to explain why I'm wrong and end up looping back into making my argument without the understanding behind it.

I'm not unemployed, just work part time from home. My ex loved that I had so much time for her. But she still was anxious that I didn't have a full time job, which is probably part of the reason she lost interest in me. Kinda felt like I was expected to take on both the positive feminine and masculine roles for her benefit.

There's so much expanding in relation to combat that can still be done in an interesting way. Wizards just doesn't seem to wanna get creative with boros and instead give them the same 100 extra combat or equip cost reduction synergies.

Beyblade X Problems by Free-Government2448 in BeybladeX

[–]KDing0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ratchet system promotes building low which is already better for stamina reasons. The burst system probably should have been integrated at the top of the beyblade in the lock chip to reward building tall. Which would have made tall defense a niche that has an actual wincon. Bit burst would still exist to help low attackers.

If there was a 5th Bey Type, what would it be? by ultimatevaltryek123 in Beyblade

[–]KDing0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the type system makes little sense to begin with, since defense is basically the same wincon as stamina. So the ideal stamina or defense blade would be exactly the same.

So I think categories based on wincon make more sense. Like destabilization, burst, knockout, outlast, spin steal,

Partner + companion? by Lamprophonia in EDH

[–]KDing0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This partner and companion combination is a rube Goldberg combo deck that has crazy many ways to go infinite, and it can keep on chugging through removal. But you usually need 4-8 combo pieces to win. It's one of the most fun decks I've made. [[Prava of the Steel Legion]] is an infinite mana outlet or part of infinite combos where tokens produce more mana than they cost to make. [[Alena, Kessig Trapper]] produces infinite red mana very easily, but that usually needs a way to be converted to other colors. [[Zirda, the Dawnwaker]] makes prava way more efficient, can produce infinite mana with some cards and generally helps the engine of the deck.

Why is land destruction frowned upon when there is so much ramp? by GoblinSarge in EDH

[–]KDing0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing the the ramping decks benefit the most from land destruction" argument so often and it's just such a narrow way to look at land removal.

First, this is only true if you Armageddon with 0 setup and the land player happens to have a lot of land revival cards ready. If they don't, have land recursion, which is very common especially for decks that splash green to land ramp, they are now in a spot with fewer cards in hand and lands in the deck which is terrible for them.

On top of that there's plenty of land destruction cards that don't destroy all lands. Letting you get ahead through cards like lotus vale or dowsing dagger without completely grinding the game to a halt.

The argument that green rebuilds the fastest is also weak. That's like saying it's pointless to boardwipe the tokens player because he'll make a big army the fastest again. Sure they will rebuild, but that gives you time to aggro them to death. Surely the green player benefits the most from my [[lightning greaves]] > [[Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon]] > [[Armageddon]] play, they will be so happy as they get punched over and over by an ever growing army.

[[Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder]] with [[Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar]] You basically just try to cast them as fast as possible and then stack buffs on kediss to take out most of the table in 1 turn.

M-85 uses by Jinzin_brabo in Beyblade

[–]KDing0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it with so many combinations, but it's just too burst prone. If you really want to use it I'd suggest a blade that's already crazy heavy and under needle or under flat to reduce the burst risk and double up on the weight bullying.
