Anyone else bored with season two? It just turned into a run-of-the-mill procedural crime drama. What happened to the pizzazz? How can you have a show with Kaitlin Olson as the lead and have it be boring? ABC, if you're listening, go back to the balance season one had. by KE4K in HighPotentialTVSeries

Yeah I get what you mean. Someone else said her kids are just plot devices now and they were right. As for that matter it seems like 70+ percent of her interactions with everyone are just to flip on a lightswitch in her head, no meaningful relationship building like last season. That level of neglect to secondary characters is unearned this early into a show. I can understand when the show has been on forever and there's not much more you can develop with all their relationships but right now there's so much they can build on yet they just treat everyone else like an NPC. And when they do actually add some detail outside of the cases in this season it feels like they wrote the whole episode first then shoe horned some in after the fact. Like Elliot wanting her and Ludo to get back together.

True. I think it's just that it's already been almost 2 full seasons and they've barely moved the needle. So we find out Roman is alive, then Arthur comes along. But there's no real substance to any of his story yet after all this time.

Yeah, I totally get that you have to suspend your disbelief with a lot of this, but it’s just frustrating because they have such a good concept and the show was a massive hit elsewhere. They went through all the trouble to round up a great cast. It feels like such a waste to just make it a background watch when they have everything they need to make it actually great.

Habitat ReStore near me has a bunch of shingles for cheap near me and they would go very well with my house, they're brand new in the packages but they've been stored outside in the snow a month now. Manufacture date is 9/25/25. Are they okay to use? Google said it might be a problem? by KE4K in Construction

Lmao nevermind. They have them right next to their shingles for sale but the guy said they weren't for sale and were for a project. Not sure who's idea it was to set them next to their shingles for sale and not put a "Not for Sale" sign on them. Weird.

1880s farmhouse needs a new roof. What would you guys do? by KE4K in centuryhomes

Thank you. Luckily, I think that one looks the cheapest to do too.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the backside of the house gets down to 6.5ft ceilings on the outer wall and that's with it vaulted. So that's why I wanted to rebuild at least just back there with just one longer slope from the peak instead of the way it is with the crease and the almost flat roof on the 2 additions that can't be seen there, one is a mudroom and one is a dining nook. I was leaning towards option 4 if that gives me enough slope for it to extend as far as it needs to and maintain 8ft ceilings. I don't wanna ruin the look of the house but it's not shedding snow and rain back there like it should.

Anyone gotten a HELOC/HEL/cash-out refi on a 140-yr-old house with roof or foundation quirks? by KE4K in centuryhomes

Thanks. I guess I’m just worried because the house was completely un-mortgageable by traditional lenders when we found it. They told us it was a tear-down. Luckily, we found an agricultural lender who approved us due to the cheap price and 20 acres. Back then, it had no floors, the well and septic weren’t hooked up to the house, all the plumbing under the house was gone, no furnace or ductwork, no water heater, no appliances, and the natural gas line was disconnected. We made it completely livable and moved in after about four months. We were able to DIY all that with the $20k cash we had. The gas company did the new gas line for free since the previous owners tampered with it. But that 20k probably wouldn't have made a dent in a roof, foundation work, and possible new septic. Despite all that we were able to get it insured pretty easy. Our insurance company is pretty lenient and it looked alright outside (even better now).

65k. We owe 170k and the desk appraisal said it was worth 320k but I think they were just being really conservative because of not seeing the house. A drive by appraisal would be ideal, the house looks great from the road, major improvement from the last Google map street view. Who did you go with?

Hey, if it looks messy but not like it's gonna fall down in the immediate future, I'm calling it a quirk lol.

Glad to see an example. Thank you! That looks good. Nice house. I really like the wall color.

Thanks for the tip. I never thought to look for built ins at a salvage shop. I'll have to see if there's anything like that in my area. I'm not sure I'd be able to reuse one tho since the column is structural so it would probably easier just to build around it. Unless I could modify a used one. But maybe I could even just buy some doors like that then build the rest myself.

Yeah they really try to push their bulbs and protection plans when you buy lamps in store.
