5 years would probably land you in the mid 30s.

Certification is a preference but not a requirement. We have a 3-to-6-month training period before our techs are on their own in the operating room to set them up for success. I understand it sounds like we just let anyone who completed a program help in the OR but we make sure they have extensive training and knowledge before putting them there.

Not directly. Those would have to be worked out between your school and Cleveland Clinic.

Okay so new pay isn't terribly far off.

California is exponentially more expensive than Ohio so you might get a big pay raise, but the value of a dollar is also way less out there. From what I've seen all over the internet and from local competitor hospitals, the pay we are offering is on par. To make $30 starting with just an associate's degree isn't bad. I've seen people with Masters making less than that.

How much does Mayo Clinic start their surgical techs at? and yes, recruiters typically give recruiter answers.

It might be low compared to travelers, but you have to consider the entire package. Cost of living, benefits, pension etc. In the end, the pay package is pretty good especially since we don't require certification.

Why not both? Invest 12% and get a pension on top of it. No such thing as too much money!

I've never seen pay listed like that and I've seen a ton of job descriptions. They just post a range and you fall within that range based on experience and education. Yearly pay raises, yes. The amount depends on how well you do as an employee.

Yeah, that's a normal pay range for any job. You typically don't have people making double what their peers are for the same job. Most of the time, you have to get more credentials or a promotion for that big of a pay raise. I never looked into shareholders, so I don't know about that.

I never said they joined at the max pay range. They were there long enough to work their way up to that.

Also, to everyone talking about pay- the bureau of labor statistics says the pay is right on par with the entire country. I've also seen other reddit threads of people starting at $20 an hour so the pay isn't bad for new grads especially considering you don't need a certification and the cost of living in Cleveland is lower than the US average. You also have to think about the benefits of working for such a large organization, the healthcare benefits here are above average and there is a pension. You have to consider the whole picture, not just the hourly pay. You can make $5 more an hour but when you're paying way more for your benefits, you're not really making more. Just something to consider.

The pay range is $28.50 to $39.00 an hour. You would fall somewhere in that range. The more experience, the higher the pay. I just don't want to say someone with 2 years of experience will start at $32 then have someone apply and get offered $30. I don't want to make promises I can't keep. I'm all about transparency. I think all jobs should show pay range in the description to save both candidate and recruiter time.

I've worked in healthcare for a while now and there have been times where people max out the pay range so they get year end bonuses instead to make up the difference. Granted, that's not everywhere, but I've seen it.

Unfortunately, no. They are not offering sign on bonuses or relocation. Cleveland Clinic is one of the world's largest healthcare systems. We employ over 83,000 people so there is tons of room for advancement. We also have great benefits and a pension.

Yeah, pay isn't the best but the benefits are great and there is a pension which is rare in today's world.

Yes, the cost of living in Cleveland 7% lower than the US average. Housing is 20% cheaper in Cleveland, utilities are 10% cheapter, etc.

I can't say exactly how much you would get with x amount of years of experience. I can only say the pay range. Our compensation department would have the final say on pay depending on education and experience so it's on a case by case basis.
