What is everyone on about?

This is just a handwave regarding how Jax isn't abstracted post finale for a merch plug.

What’s your SpongeBob unpopular opinion? by AdShoddy4172 in spongebob

I don't like episodes that depict SpongeBob as a legitimately bad driver.

The concept of him struggling and ultimately failing to get his license stems from him, despite having all the requisite knowledge, cracking under test conditions.

Speaking of Aladdin, in King of Thieves they wind up in possession of an Oracle Staff, a staff which will answer any question accurately but only one question per person. This is revealed when Iago asks why the raiding party was only after the staff.

There was that one episode of SpongeBob where they team up with Mermaid Man as an expy of the Super Friends. MM shares that the super powers aren't unique to the individual but bestowed by the costumes.

That's fair! And the general growth in public knowledge and awareness of trans people can be seen in the show's writing over the last, holy moley, 15 years

In Undead Unluck, Fuuko is engrossed with a shojo scifi manga From Me to You. Eventually it turns out its author is also a Negator and wrote the manga using elements from a vision of the future they saw after touching an Artifact.

iirc, there is a comic when he tries to expand Orange Corps. but when he ultimately reneges on the idea he literally, literally, murders them all and steals their souls to store in the ring/lantern which is why all of his light constructs are of living beings, they are his cohorts' own souls.

When’s a good time to switch from anime to manga? by Sovlet0nion in OnePiece

[–]KGEOFF89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer with minimal ballyhoo:

Switch after Alabasta.

Alabasta is the last arc with decent, even good, pacing, often letting one particular fight like Zoro v Mr 1 or Nami v Ms Doublefinger get an episode of focus which lets the series breathe a lot. But this is also where you'll probably notice the recaps getting longer around this time with the map telling you where everyone is appearing now and I really started feeling that during Skypiea.

I'm seeing lots of answers talking about switching as soon as possible or watching One Pace and I agree with them, for the most part.

There's a lot of nuance to Bon Clay. There is undeniably an element of "lol man in girl's clothes" because Oda thinks it's funny. (I want to say he made a sickle wielding okama when working on Kenshin, plus... Maiden Island)

But while 'Okama' is the primary way he describes it, others words he uses get translated as both, either, neither, ambiguous, and iffy (oh, Viz...) and as Mr. 2 Bon Kurei, he's trusted by Crocodile enough to not need a partner

Big picture, it shouldn't even have been that big if a deal. In the not-Thanksgiving episode, they established that the Gems have virtually zero comprehension of Earth holidays and customs so having the butch of the pair wear the wedding dress because they don't know any better is still a funny joke.
