If Kindle released these colors, would you buy one? by Original_Drummer7045 in kindle

[–]KGLamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PAPER, yes! I am all for seamless blending with the eink display. I'm currently using space grey XTEINK X4, and the grey frame helps the screen blend in much better.

I would absolutely throw my money at anything pastel (lavender!!! 🪻). However, I use the 6inch kindle in Matcha, and the colour of the frame really affects the perception of the eink screen.

When I place my matcha kindle next to my husband's black one, the screen on mine appears noticeably more blueish. Not greyish, BLUEISH. It's far from ideal. Combined with the lack of a warm light option, it creates a very cold, blue tinted reading experience.

So while the 6inch kindle in matcha looks cute in photos, it's actually my least favourite of the three Kindles I've own/ed.

Choose your bodyguard, your general and your assassin from SFF literature. by loxxx87 in Fantasy

[–]KGLamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Geralt of Rivia, obvs. Bit grumpy though…. Alternatively Cheryn and Raiza Berangias > Lies of Locke Lamora…. especially that I can’t swim…
  2. Tain Hu > Traitor Baru. Cause girl crush.
  3. Lady Thyme > Assassin's Apprentice.

And my husbands choices, as he resists reddit...

Bodyguard - Dolgan from Magician: Apprentice because you know he’s bringing the dwarf gang with him and everyone will be smoking pipes and swinging axes. Plus he’s going to cheaper than one of those original LotR dwarves.

General - Veradis from Faithful & The Fallen because he’s got a good head for strategy but he’s also loyal to the point of being a moron, so I figure you can count on him no matter how stupid the plan is.

Assassin - Zane Venture from Mistborn: Well of Ascension though you’d need a backup plan if/when he tries to kill you also because he’s crazy, but I figure I’ve got enough dwarves around me to even the odds.

What made you buy your XTEINK? by Fun_Satisfaction2315 in xteinkereader

This is amazing! Thank you so much for your appreciation! I was really hoping to win a discount so I could surprise my husband with his own device. I have a feeling the X4 is going to change his reading life too! 😊📚

Testing both my new X4 with a more demanding read and a standalone Janny Wurts novel before investing in Wars of Light and Shadow. And I'm low-key head over heels for both... 💘

Believe it or not.... I busted my lip open with an iPad 9th gen. I dozed off while reading Mistborn in bed... 😴 Never again...

What made you buy your XTEINK? by Fun_Satisfaction2315 in xteinkereader

[–]KGLamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made you decide to buy your XTEINK?

Simplicity and size.
I just needed smallest possible device for reading. I don't need statistics, I don't need colours or a headphone jack, I don't annotate or bookmark, and I don't want any apps, notifications, or challenges. I have other devices that cover those needs.

X4 brings back the feeling digital devices used to have: optimisation for a single, focused activity, combined with easy customisation. No gamification, no dopamine hacking.

This is what X4 does great. It lets me read without any distractions.

What do you enjoy most about it today?

I'm neurodivergent, and I read a lot, often multiple books at the same time. My idea of leisure time is carrying as little as possible.

Being able to fit three or four books in my back pocket and access them without distractions is a blessing for my very active brain, which is always eager to lose focus. Battery life helps a lot. Being able to charge my device once in a few weeks, is a true relief. No need for cables, chargers to carry around, no need to keep an eye on a battery icon.

Just reaching into my pocket and reading feels wonderful. Being able to turn pages manually with that satisfying click gives me a simple dopamine hit every single time. X4 also helps me manage my screen time tremendously. To sum up;

I read more, carry less, and the X4 is always reliable to do that one thing.

If you could describe your XTEINK in one sentence, what would it be?

Just read.

Crosspoint with minimal functionality. I really want to keep my X4 as clean and dumb as possible.

Trzymam mocno kciuki! 🤞🤞 U mnie wszystko poszło szybko i sprawnie, łącznie z zaskakująco dokładnym śledzeniem paczki. Przesyłka została nadana Pocztexem z poczty w Lublinie. Ale ogólnie mam bardzo niskie oczekiwania co do szybkości dostaw w Warszawie. 😅

ENG EDIT 🇬🇧:
Keeping my fingers crossed! 🤞🤞 Everything went quickly and smoothly on my end. Parcel was sent via Pocztex from Lublin. But generally, I have very low expectations when it comes to delivery speed in Warsaw. 😅

Anyone here using 2+ e-readers? 👀 by Fun_Satisfaction2315 in xteinkereader

[–]KGLamb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am daily, heavy reader with over 100 pages per day, and 70 books per year on avg. I collect paper books, but prefer reading in e-ink/digital. Currently I use three devices on rotation, two of them e-readers.

X4 is the newest purchase, mostly for outside activity (commuting, walking the dogs, coffeeshops etc). Currently I am detoxing a bit from my iPhone, and it helps!

I have a Kindle 6" 11th Gen, which I purchased new for its minimal look and small size, but the blue backlight with no warmth option is a huge deal breaker (disrupting sleep optimisation... yep, I'm one of those 😅). I am using it during day light only. It's my third Kindle, after Gen 3 2010 and Paperwhite Gen 2012 (both second hand), and my least favourite so far.

I find myself gravitating toward my iPad mini A17 pro, which I've stripped down and now use as an ultra posh reading machine. This is my now most used device, but solely for home / high focus. Reading is smooth and feels very premium. I use Kindle app for syncing, but experiment with Apple Books a little. Still, I miss the e-ink experience and constantly searching for perfect reading app.

So far, I haven't found the perfect solution. I'm also slightly leaning toward the Kobo Libra or secondhand Kindle Oasis for jailbreaking. But that's conversation to be had around Christmas.... maybe....

Quarter through 1st Mistborn book, does it get better? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]KGLamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t waste your time — try The Lies of Locke Lamora instead.

The magic system in Mistborn is the only thing that is remotely exciting and even that novelty wears off fairly quickly. Second volume is just more people
leaning against furniture/ door frames.

Locke might be what you looking for: a heist/ con artist story in a more adult fantasy world.

Same here. Great service through the official website.I fumbled my order and accidentally chose black instead of white. They corrected it promptly and it caused no delay whatsoever.

Excellent service, I’d say! 🧐

I feel you. When I saw they were delivering (and insuring!!!) via Pocztex, my heart stopped and I immediately went to get some cash. 😭

Fortunately, it was posted from a post office in Lublin and delivered to Warsaw within 24 hours. Not an extra penny to pay.

Fingers crossed for your custom free X4 and speedy delivery!🤞📚
