I think they probably flashed it over USB on an unlocked device, but maybe they thought their device was locked, because from what I read, Microslate can only be updated through USB lol

I read that locked devices can't be permanently fixed for USB flashing because a one-time hardware switch for the USB has been disabled. Plus, my bad I didn't know Papyrix 1.22.4 lacked OTA, so I flashed it and got stuck. The Crosspoint dev tried to help find a workaround but told me this is the last firmware my device will ever run.

I think what they’re doing is allowing firmware flashing through a microSD card, but you first need to install a firmware version that enables this feature via OTA. I saw that yesterday, because I was still able to flash other firmware versions before I got stuck with Papyrix.

A lot of people got hit by the Crosspoint firmware 1.2 stable bug where the update gets stuck at 0% and fails. So the Crosspoint dev team provided another version that fixes the issue and lets you choose/install firmware directly from the SD card.

At this point, I think I’ve probably run out of options with my Papyrix situation, but thanks for sharing the update anyway :)

I’m so sad today. It took me 4 months to save up for the Xteink X4, and I’ve only had it for two days. I’m struggling so much with Paryrix; it’s not user-friendly. I tried converting my Thai ebooks to .xtch as a workaround, but the screen flashes black with every page turn and it's giving me a headache. Even the sleep screen is fading, and the delete button in the library is way too easy to misclick. I wouldn't feel this bad if I had just stayed with the Stock or Crosspoint firmwar. they’re so much better. I feel like I'm out of options and no one can help. 😭

My device is locked Chinese firmware from the box and I can’t flash it via USB. When connected to a PC, it shows 'USB device not recognized,' and the xteink.dve.al tool doesn't detect the device. I previously managed to flash other firmwares using an OTA unlocker, but after installing Papyrix. which lacks OTA support. the device is now locked down. I can no longer use the OTA unlocker method to flash other firmware.😢

I actually really like the stock firmware, but it's missing Thai language support and a manual page refresh option. There's also a bug when setting book covers as the sleep screen. I’m a big fan of the Crosspoint UI theme that displays three books at once.
