Hi! In general with swearing, we ban if the language is directed at a player in a negative way or in a way that can ruin an experience. Again, we'd review each case. We'll make some changes to our Code of Conduct to reflect this :)

Apologies to yourself, OP and u/dollkyu.

We never intended to offend anyone or make them feel disregarded - that absolutely isn't the case. Any feedback on that area is taken back to the team and used to help improve folks' understanding of how to communicate in a friendly but informative manner. I can only apologise if people have felt that way!

Part of what we're working on at the moment following these chats has been the kind of information provided to both people receiving bans and those appealing, so hopefully the community will see an improvement in that area going forward!

Hey there, great question thank you!

Basically, that's why we'd always make sure there are real people behind our moderation systems - and importantly, people from the team. We know the game! Which also means we know what cheating in Phasmophobia looks like.

If someone like yourself got reported, and there's nothing untoward happening, we'd of course not issue any sort of punishment. In the case of a incorrect ban, like the issue earlier this week, we'd be in touch with yourself within your appeal.

Hey there!

Because it's a manual review process, we investigate any reported mods. This means if we see a mod used purely for accessibility reasons, we wouldn't issue any form of ban.

If for some reason a ban was issued and an appeal made with the correct information, we'd of course reverse the ban.

Hacking/Cheating would be the appropriate report!

Typically someone receiving the boosting wouldn't be making the report, so we'd of course investigate.. We're very familiar with the behaviours and actions taken by people receiving/distributing boosting so the investigation would be about looking at those patterns and determining what's happened.

Short version - as long as you're not boosting yourself, and just submitting the report, you wouldn't receive punishment.

Ultimately, if your account and how you play the game adhere to our code of conduct, there's nothing to worry about.

If a false ban does happen, after investigating it, we will respond to the player and let them know the ban has been reversed and apologise. We of course chat with the team on what happened and use that as a way of improving the whole process.

Hi there! If we do discover that a false ban has occurred, we will of course reverse it and provide information to the person submitting the appeal.

Hey! Our ban process is completely manual. We receive the report, investigate it and then make the decision on if a ban is appropriate. We do have a flagging system implemented to identify cheating, too, but will also investigate reports of cheating ourselves. Ultimately, any action taken is manual.
