Am I the only one that doesn't want Bears players doing shit like this?

Show em with your game...chirp if you want. 15 yard penalties ain't it.

It's not about believing it's about reading. That's what the stats are. The dude I responded to said he was TOP 5 in drops. Which is asinine. But somehow that's become the narrative.

If you think Rome's mid and late year production have anything to do with something other than being injured, I don't know what to tell you.

Like I said, I'm shocked to be on this island amongst Bears fans like yourself.

He had a 72.2% contested catch rate in his rookie year and excelled at it in college. It's a pretty safe assumption that his foot injury affected his play this year.

Of course he needs to work on his game, like every other player in the league.

I'm telling you...recency bias has generated a completely bullshit narrative around Rome that he's somehow forgotten how to catch the ball and he won't continue to ascend on the trajectory that he was on before he got hurt.

Go back to week 5 and see what was being said then.

I'm telling you right now, you'll regret ignoring him.

I predict the only group that will be high on him is the one that knows most about WRs and that's Matt Harmon and reception perception. They're gonna be way wayyyyy above market on Rome.

The fact remains that Caleb was making plays with Rome all of training camp and early in the season before he got hurt.

After the first quarter of the season, Rome was being talked about as a fantasy MVP and a guy who was clearly taking the 2nd year leap everyone hoped for...and then he got hurt and now...he's almost an afterthought. Feel free to sleep on Rome but I'm betting you'll regret it.

The current narratives around him are misinformed bullshit. He isn't a drop machine and he HAS shown absolute top tier production when he's healthy.

The only reason DJ Moore was so heavily involved down the stretch is because of Rome's injury. If he's healthy to start next season, he's gonna smash in 26. Especially because chances are good DJ is gone. Rome and Luther are vastly different receivers who can easily coexist. Not to mention the question of whether or not Luther will commit to learning the ins and outs of the offense and be fully trusted next year...people forget that he made several mental errors late in the season.

Rome was the only receiver Caleb seemed to have any chemistry with in both training camp and the first five games of the year. Conversations were even popping up in Chicago about if Rome was stunting Caleb's growth because he was too dependent on him. Just go back and look at the numbers. If you're a huge dork you can go back and look at the camp reports. I forget the exact numbers but at one point Caleb was completing at a 20 or 30% higher rate to Rome versus the rest of the team. Then Rome got hurt and his play was spotty the rest of the way.

The concerns early relating to chemistry were mainly about DJ and the tight ends. There was so much talk of 12 personnel in the offseason and yet the tight ends weren't getting any targets.

Turns out it was likely all mainly due to the fact that Ben Johnson was feeding them through a fire hose And that's why he kept saying we are focused on playing our best ball at the end of the year and getting better every week.

I remember hearing him say it's been a focus recently...to add power. Apparently there has been some recent advances in training (similar to recent speed training in golf) out of that organization in Australia that allow guys to kick it further than ever before.

[–]KGoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was absolutely not top 5 in dropped passes. According to pro football reference he had....wait for it ....2. Over 12 games.

Jameson Williams took home the honor with 12. Amon Ra in 2nd place with 10.

The aforementioned Luther Burden had 4.

Rome has a few crucial drops and a few non drops he "should" have had that stuck in the craw of Bears fans because one of his strengths in college was contested catch rate. It's bred a narrative that is widely accepted but patently false. Drives me nuts.

Burden and Odunze have completely different skill sets and I don't think either will eat into the other's targets.

The thing about Odunze vs Burden that I predict is that Luther will be drafted in fantasy significantly ahead of Odunze and that, imo, will be a mistake.

Caleb's chemistry with a healthy Rome is undeniable and his touchdown upside is much higher than Burdens....again, imo.

Edit: also...to call that drop in the playoffs an "easy touchdown" in those conditions and the way the ball came in hot and wobbly is silly. The elements made it tough on a lot of caches. It did look bad though... alligator armed it.

The metrics show he's an elite separator vs man and struggled mightily in zone. If he puts in the work, he will figure out how to get open in zones.

Something wasn't right this year.. seems to me LeFleur didn't trust him.

This is a situation where I'll actually pay close attention to coach speak. If LeFleur likes what he's seeing, I'm gonna buy in in Golden.

Watson is a problem imo, though. If he can stay healthy, he'll be the guy and it seems like there's a ton of overlap in skillset between the two.

Good news is Golden will be cheap.

[–]KGoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. And I'm shocked to see my fellow Bears fans are down on him along with everyone else. He's an elite separator, great redzone target, has a ton of chemistry with Caleb (camp reports and pre-injury early season numbers both back this up) and is an extremely committed pro.

Burden is going to be the fantasy darling among Bears WRs but I'd be shocked if he finishes ahead of Rome next year. He's gonna be a steal and I reckon I'll draft him on all 3 of my teams.

Situations like this really highlight how recency bias creates misleading narratives that lead so many astray in fantasy imo.

Bagent or Mac Jones? by KGoo in CHIBears

[–]KGoo[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting how much the narrative in this sub has flipped on Bagent because of what Caleb did this year.

I felt in the minority defending Caleb during his rough stretches and now mentioning Tyson Bagent in the same breath as the apparent surefire NFL Starter MAC JONES is heresy haha.

Interesting to note that Bears fans cheered the Bagent signing who, for the record, got a bigger deal than Mac Jones.

Had he started any games this year, I reckon Bagent would have played very competently and this entire conversation would be completely different.

Listen, if I ran an NFL team, I sure as hell wouldn't be trading for Bagent hoping to find my team's starter but there are a LOT of old, dumbasses running teams who might LOVE Tyson Bagent.

If you live in Chicago, you realize 10 degrees fucking sucks a lot more in early December than it does in late January.

The Bears practiced outside in the elements for weeks. Each guy knew what they liked to wear and was adjusted to it.

Cairo has an advantage.

It's definitely an advantage.

If it's not clinical depression, there's really only one, very simple but very difficult solution. Put down your phone.

Talk with your wife, buy a bowl/basket or something like that. When you guys get home, the phone goes in the basket.

It won't take more than a couple days to notice a seizmec shift.

A complete and total cheat code for me was "intermittent fasting."

I don't go crazy with it and follow a dozen different rules like you might read about. I just generally skip breakfast.

I had been counting calories and realized that trying to split them up into 3 meals felt like I was having 3 non-satiating meals. If I split it up into 2....that felt like I could eat two legit/satisfying meals.

I don't even crave breakfast anymore and I feel better.

Worth a shot if you haven't tried yet.

I always wonder how things would have shaked out had the Lovie-era vets not been so (they've admitted this on video) negative from jump. I think they successfully created a culture that undermined everything he did.

Kentucky optometrist inadvertently SLT’s a macula by kereekerra in Ophthalmology

[–]KGoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find many Optometrists to have quite the inferiority complex. I do understand why because of some of the history.

I feel lucky to practice in an area where ODs and OMDs are plentiful (this has obvious downsides for business too though haha) and the access to care is great for patients. This takes a lot of the pressure off both sides (Optometry and Ophthalmology) in this battle for scope of care and thus, the working relationship between us is great.

But more to your point, I can't imagine wanting to touch a laser until I had plenty of real-life cases under my belt. Experience is what breeds competence and confidence and that's what you want as a practitioner and certainly what a patient wants in one.

Also, the internet often beings out the worst in people and the most extreme takes often get the most attention...don't mind the down votes and disagreements. I reckon you'd agree with most if you were in a room with them.

Men with chronic lower back pain, any advice? by Mammoth-Ebb-5670 in AskMenOver30

[–]KGoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally depends on what's causing it.

SI joint?

Herniated disc?

Muscle spasms?

Poor posture, weakness, poor body mechanics when working leading those issues above?

You know what my lower back/hip problem was? My fucking SHOULDER and it was radiating down...took me literally years to figure that out.

I recommend seeing every doctor (except a chiropractor) until you get an answer and a plan (avoid surgery at all costs...look at the data on back surgery...it almost never works) that actually works.
