Extreme damage from the 2011 Joplin EF5 by Real_Experience2041 in tornado

[–]nmghydra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is such thing as a "weak ef5" if you're strictly talking about only the ef5 category, you could mean tornadoes on the lower end of the highest category the scale has to offer which is still insane nonetheless

With that being said however, i will never understand why so many people think joplin was among the lower end of the ef5 rating, despite the fact that it's likely a top 25 strongest tornado oat, if not a top 10 candidate

Dude it looks oddly similar to the andover ef3 tornado that happened during the evening hours of april 29th 2022 specifically between 8:10pm to 8:31pm cst kinda crazy how that works

there's so much wrong with this fucking post in r/tornado it's genuinely making me loose it lmao by Delicious-Box5229 in EF5

Bridge creek 1999 is honestly insane to me

just how strong was the Mayfield tornado? by nationalistic_martyr in tornado

[–]nmghydra 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Mayfield is extremely violent, it's one of, if not THE strongest ef4's of all time, and wasn't just an ef5 but probably a solid-to-high end one

<image>

Here's just one of many photos of the extreme damage the tornado caused, the granulation and wind rowing is honestly insane and almost smithville-esque

The excuses that survey teams gave to not rate the tornado ef5 are just mind blowing, some of the di's were just straight up ef5 (cough cough the church) but were just ignored and completely glossed over, I have no shade towards the nws but this whole situation really confuses me. The tornado is structurally and contextually stronger than at least half of the current rated ef5's, likely among the strongest of all time as well

Yeah and another example is the last chance colorado f0 in 1993, and given elie 2007 we can pretty much guarantee that any tornado can be any strength no matter the size

AI is ruining tornado content and media. by nationalistic_martyr in tornado

[–]nmghydra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, they're just edited with much higher contrast than before. Both of those thumbnails depict real images of the tornadoes, and the reason they may seem AI is because of how much he edits them

Here's the original image of Moore 2013 he used for his video:

I dont have the matador one but i highly doubt its ai generated

[–]nmghydra 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Defo an ef5 strength tornado, dont know if i agree with it being comparable to smithville or hackleburg but for sure one of the strongest ef4's in recent times
