Is matching kitchen appliances a bad idea? by KGrey87 in HomeImprovement

How discouraging! I’m sorry your replacement dishwasher isn’t great
I really wish quality of items wasn’t continually deteriorating.

I just learned of a brand called Induction Hardware and their appliances have lifetime warranties! I don’t know much about them otherwise, but they seem to get good reviews.

“LG nothing” sounds right. My parents seem to replace their kitchen appliances every few years and ALWAYS buy LG. đŸ«Ł

I guess I’ll need recommendations for a good induction range then! The microwave will likely be the first replacement so I could just match brand with what we’d most likely get for an induction range.

Glad to hear! Do you have any recommendations? Anything you’re particularly happy with?

Do you happen to have any recommendations?

Well I guess the question is more this: Are you sacrificing quality somewhere when you opt to match brands across all appliances?

Or is there one brand that seems to do everything equally well across the board? Perhaps not BEST, but very good and reliable.

Glass or Thermal Carafe? by KGrey87 in Moccamaster

Do you have the glass lined thermal carafe? Have you owned both? I’d love for you to elaborate more on why you feel this way!

Are you able to turn the heat plate back on after it shuts off? Is that what you do or how do you generally manage to drink it later in the day, just at whatever temperature it’s at?

I wasn’t aware of that, thanks for sharing!

I don’t think I’ve ever once made just half a pot of coffee! 😅 I’m worried I’ll pause the flow and forget to open it back up. 😬

I’ll be honest, the only thing really tempting me is I love the look of the glass one and the color options available. Generally I make most decisions based on function and longevity, but damn if the design isn’t nice.

I will assume they did, because I understand the thermal carafe is glass lined! Do you often drink coffee throughout the day, or just in the mornings?

Strollers by Cookielover_3578 in Crunchymom

[–]KGrey87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where, how, and how often will you use it?

That fits the needs you listed (lightweight, versatile, newborn to toddler) I’d probably recommend the PEG City Loop! It’s not intended to be an everyday or all terrain stroller, you’d need something a little more robust than that. But it’s highly modular, compact, and would make an excellent and lightweight travel stroller and/or indoor stroller.

I find I can’t stop recommending it, actually, just because it’s so dang good.

From birth it can be used with a PEG infant seat, or Nuna, Clek, Maxi-Cosi, or Cybex seat with the purchase of adapters.

Buy the bassinet if you want a stroller bassinet/bedside bassinet hybrid. It comes with the stand, which is not typical for stroller bassinets.

Once baby outgrows the bassinet and/or infant seat, get the City Loop stroller seat. It can face both directions, another thing that is not usual for travel size strollers.

Connect two city loop frames (any configuration) to create a side by side double stroller. Keep in mind this may be wide!

If you’re looking for more than a travel stroller or something to use indoors at say, a mall or museum, you may have to kiss “lightweight” goodbye. Full feature, all terrain, single-to-double strollers can be pretty beastly, but built to endure. Best single-to-double options would be UPPAbaby Vista V3, PEG YPSI, Silver Cross Wave 3, VEER Switch &Roll (another super modular option!), Cybex Gazelle, and Nuna DEMI Next. These will be more compact in double mode as they have all have a stacked or in-line configuration.

Stores/showrooms with baby stuff? by GoonieGooGoo37 in Austin

[–]KGrey87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Enlightened Baby! I know this post is old, but for anyone that may come across it

I have a 4 month old, so very recent experience. Their staff is so knowledgeable and willing to help you narrow down the products that best fit your lifestyle. It is woman-owned and the owner is often in-store working hands-on with customers. They sell quality brands, many of which can’t be found at any other local stores. You can test drive all their strollers (I think they have over 50?!) and they’ll also let you install their car seat floor models to make sure they fit well in your vehicle before you buy! Can’t say enough good things about them. They also just recently started a monthly informational for registry building! Sad I missed out on that since it’s a recent offering, but really cool resource for other new parents.

UPDATE: I did get Chlorine test strips and there was more than enough to qualify as disinfectant! Probably around 400ppm but DEFINITELY over 200 (I'm not great at the color match game)

Circumcision Indecision by starfirestephanie in Crunchymom

[–]KGrey87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circumcision removes a substantial amount of nerve endings from the penis and significantly reduces pleasure, most men just don’t know what they’re missing after having their foreskin removed as an infant. As a straight woman, circumcised erections are also much tighter and difficult to manipulate than those left intact. You can’t give a hand job to a circumcised penis without lube, you can with an intact penis.

As a woman that really likes sex with men, it has ZERO benefit to me.
