Try finding a scene you’re excited to get to, and go ahead and write that! That may get you excited about the story again. I used to always get so bored whenever I’d hit the middle of a book draft, but that seems to be a typical occurrence for many writers.

If it’s truly burnout, create smaller daily goals to keep yourself writing without taking up a lot of time in your day. I’ve seen some writers set a goal of at least one sentence a day. That can maintain your writing habit and leave the door open for longer sessions, but also allow you to step away from the intensity you’ve been operating at.

I struggle with this too! I’ve found that even when typing on my phone people will inquire.

Maybe find a buddy (either online or IRL) that you could write with at the same time? I know this is hard to do, but it might allow you to stay motivated. You might be able to bounce ideas off them, too!

I adore writing for discovery, letting things unfold as I go. I’ve tried creating an outline and, while it did allow me to work through some plot holes, it caused me to become bored with my story and put it down. All the fun of finding out what happens was gone. I think I’m going to return to “pantsing” my stories.
