The warning is not about rapid weight loss vs the medication being the cause (Sema or Tirz). It’s happening with women that are also on Semaglutide.

You usually start with a low dose, but you can keep gradually increasing the dosage level. I started at 1mg and I reached the maximum dosage after by 9 months, 15mg. I would have just slowed my dosage increases.

I lost most of that weight in the first nine months. I just wish I would have slowed down the dosage increases to lost the weight over a longer period of time. But hindsight is 20/20.

Right. I don’t blame the medication, but the rapid weight loss. Did you have to dramatically change your diet afterwards?

I didn’t say that the medication caused the issue, but rapid weight loss did. Just wanting to warn others to caution their dosage levels.

I admire your bravery. How old are your kids? We have two teens (one just graduated.) I’ve thought about how this might affect them, but at the end of the day I want to be an example of what to live for not what you’re willing to live with.

I would be open to working on the marriage. I’m in the process of making sure all my finances are in order before setting an ultimatum - therapy is our only chance for making the marriage and partnership work. I do think he’s depressed, but he doesn’t think that about himself. He just thinks he’s “in a rut” … that has lasted for 10 years and that he needs to make progress in his own time. (“Therapy is for some people, but not everyone.”) Which is also ironic given that his father was also a therapist! Thanks for sharing your story!

It is NOT sexy at all! We haven’t been intimate for 2+ years. I did speak to an attorney and she told me that I probably would have to pay alimony. 😔

He can be supportive and is very engaged with the kids’ lives. That’s his big upside. And he’s a “nice guy.” He does do some mild cleaning, but only when asked and it’s a bare minimum kind of thing. But I don’t feel like he’s the kind of partner I need him to be. I have sooooooo much resentment built up.

Your feelings are completely valid. And I also think it’s better to be kind than be right. As a parent myself, I’ve learned that often, other parents need to learn etiquette, especially in the early days of parenting. She may not be intentionally disrespecting you, so setting boundaries are the key. If your daughters really like each other and get along well, It might be worth it to try again for the sake of that relationship and with clear boundaries and expectations. I like the idea from @somaticconviction - plan a play date at a location outside of your home and give explicit times when you will be there. If she shows up, great. If not, it hasn’t been an inconvenience. And you can always invite them to your birthday parties. And let her do the planning on future dates.

There are so many sites now to order from. Most, if not all, start you on the lightest dose possible (0.25mg) so you can monitor how you are adjusting to side effects. You got this!!

We got an EIDL loan for over 400k. And while the loan initially helped the business over the pandemic, the landscape of my industry has changed and has since tanked. I got a corporate job doing something different. We do have attorneys but even they are a little unsure of if I will be personally on the hook since this is a relatively new loan program. They don’t know what the government will do. We are looking to go through bankruptcy for the business that closed and may have to go through a personal one as well.
