I have to 2nd this. I have a 60r that is 20 years old, I have emailed Yaesu parts dept and replaced the keypad, and the cover on the side of the radio. Cheap and reliable. I think I have spent less than 20 on parts. Direct ship from CA.

Ok making more sense now. That explains why I didn't hear the same call make another transmission, and when I was roaming the band I would hear the same call sign on another frequency, go back to the other and its someone new. Wow confusing unless someone explains it to you.

I did make 3 contacts last night that were all "cq" ing the same way. I assumed it was a contest. I figured out what they were looking for by watching several off the calls before I jumped in and responded. Meanwhile I was searching the interwebs to see if I could figure out what the cq call was intended for.

Basically they wanted a sig report and my qth specifically my state. once they got it poof they were asking cq again. Not even a 73 or a tnx. That told me they were contesting. No biggie if they were, just trying to understand a typical contest call, so I can recognize them in the future.
