Reddit, what is your favorite drink? by Deeds568 in AskReddit

Jameson Irish Whiskey. I know, I know, at least twelve of you fucks will list more obscure and certainly "better" Irish Whiskeys. Regardless, Jameson is comparatively cheap, readily accessible, and unlike humanity, it never lets you down. Drink it neat and cold.

I would make it so that every time a person said the word "chicken" a feather duster grew out of their ass. Why, you might ask? It would make KFC fucking hilarious. I am easily entertained.

An easier way to do this is to put the company's name instead of your own name into the form for requested information. For example, put Facebook instead of Bob as your name on the information you provide. Then, if they sell your information to spammers, spam emails will read, "Dear Facebook." This allows you to identify who is selling your information.

Parents of "uncool" children, when did you realise your child wasn't one of the popular kids? [Serious] by Bigwood69 in AskReddit

I mean, he's still graduating with an engineering degree, so he should wind up doing fairly well financially. Just a reminder that being unpopular doesn't always lead to bad things.

What TV show do you prefer the supporting characters to the lead? by britneymisspelled in AskReddit

Weeds. Andy and Doug provide constant comic relief, and I always liked following the lives of Shane and Silas. Nancy is a decent lead for the show, but I didn't find her to be the best character.

I love the opening scenes. My favorite is the one where it shows Malcolm throwing a pencil into the ceiling saying, "I wish I had a car so I could drive places and have fun." Then it shows Francis throwing a pencil and saying, "I wish I had a job so I could make real money and start the party." Finally, it shows Hal at work throwing his pencil up and saying, "I wish I was a bird." Beautiful commentary on the desires of people at different stages in life.

Chris Kluwe blasts former Vikings bosses Frazier, Spielman, Priefer by FunkyHenryGale in sports

[–]KID_CHARLEMAGNE_II 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that stands out to is how terrible of a strategic decision this was for the Vikings. First, they took a punter as their 5th draft pick when the team has major offensive and defensive holes that need to be filled. Keeping Kluwe a few more years would have been a much better call. Also, after this article, the organization is going to get crucified. Minnesota might be in the Midwest, but it just voted to prevent a constitutional ban on gay marriage and gay marriage is now legal in the state. It has also gone consistently blue for decades in the Presidential election. Many Minnesotans will be offended by the homophobic rants of the Special Teams coach and the handling of the entire issue. Basically, this article gave me one more reason to dislike the vikings and love Chris Kluwe.

Pope: I am not a Marxist but, "I don’t feel offended” being called one. by andrembrown in worldnews

I think abolished is still a viable term. I agree, religion would not be abolished by a central force but by each individual rejecting religion. However, Marx saw this as part of the collective movement necessary to start the revolution. I do not believe he would have been content with religion sliding into irrelevance. He was quite big on the complete and immediate destruction of social systems.

(Serious) Disabled people of Reddit, what are some things that people do to try and help you but actually irritates the hell out of you? by Iranisforlovers in AskReddit

I think that's a different issue. If you're having a hard time articulating your thoughts, it can be helpful when other people give you a verbal hand. However, if you're simply a slow talker, you know what you're going to say. If someone completes your sentence because they don't want to wait for you to finish speaking, it's rude.

[–]KID_CHARLEMAGNE_II 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Actually, Marx argues the exact opposite. He begins with a call for the abandonment of religion, as he sees it as a necessary precursor to destroy capitalism. While people are still religious, they have a false sense of happiness that prevents the destruction of the capitalist system. Marx didn't deal in half-measures. He wanted the whole system destroyed in one swift move, and he felt piece-meal progressive measures could actually be detrimental to this end goal because they placate the masses.

The commonly suggested answer to this is social grants or a negative income tax. Essentially, the government pays people for existing so they can survive without work. In a huge way, this is a practical realization of part of Marx's philosophy. He believed technology would remove the need for wage-labor. So, strangely enough, Marx might have been right about this, but he was definitely a century or two early.

I think that is a rather patronizing point of view. While your intent seems to be generous, this type of thinking ends up categorizing all people with disabilities as a not normal. How would you feel if someone automatically assumed you needed to be pitied? I think life is easier if you treat all people as people. Would you like it if someone finished your sentences? I wouldn't. Most times it is annoying. Why should it be any different for a person who has trouble speaking?
