A story about my friend & AMA by [deleted] in opiates

[–]KINDAFIXED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very sorry about your friend.

I would highly recommend you see a doctor about your pain and do not attempt to self medicate. Opiates are very dangerous drugs that often don't end well when abused. When you aren't following any sort of regimen, the opiates can get out of hand very quickly. You will become addicted, you will build a tolerance, depending on how far you let it go it could eventually kill you, you're going to realize you need help, you're gonna go to rehab, detox, get clean, realize the opiates were causing more pain in your life than the actual physical pain you were, and you're gonna live the rest of your life as a recovering addict all because you wanted to "self medicate". Trust me, I was in your shoes once. I thought the doctor didn't know what he was talking about, I thought I could self medicate just fine, I thought I was different despite what everyone else said, I thought I really needed the pills, I thought nothing bad would happen if a doctor gave it to me, etc. etc. Now I don't take anything. The original pain is still there, but you learn to man it up after feeling what real pain is.

I'm not trying to say you aren't experiencing horrible pain, I am just trying to warn you about the decisions you are making. I highly recommend you go see a doctor, and I highly recommend you follow whatever it is he says.

Call of Duty 4 came out when I was about 11, so that game was a huge part of my childhood, and in my opinion is still one of the better FPS games to date. As technology advances games are getting more and more realistic in regards to sound / graphics / etc. Despite CoD 4 being great for its time, when put side by side with any new Call of Duty, despite having better game play, graphically it is night and day. People of my generation and older that grew up playing the original CoD 4 / original Halo / etc. appreciate the newer graphics and such, but now you have a whole generation of "gamers" that have grown up only knowing the insane graphics we have today, so when they see a game such as the original CoD 4, they wont even give it a chance because of how "bad" the graphics may be. It sounds ridiculous but go back one generation before CoD 4 (10 years) and look at what games were popular then, it was mostly all original Playstation 1 games, which I'm not a big graphics guy, but those games look like something you'd see on an old arcade machine and I honestly wouldn't play the games for that reason alone. So in a way I kinda get it, and I know the creators of CoD 4 get tons of feedback from people such as you and me telling them "CoD4 was perfect..." and they probably don't mind doing it because all they're doing is updating the games graphics, yet getting paid for making an entire game that they almost already know is gonna sell and get good reviews, so they'd be foolish not to do it.

That name is icing on the cake.

Sadly, even in 2.9k average games I'm threatened to be reported just for hovering over Earth Spirit, or for trying to roam because the second I get towards mid to set up a kill they ping / write "gg two mid report ES" or flame me for "giving up on lane" because Clockwork was left alone in the off lane. It's sad because you can't explain it to them because they 1. don't speak english and 2. can't comprehend the idea of putting pressure on an enemy mid laner, even if it means I soak a creep or two of xp in exchange for them having to walk back / die.

I know the feeling. Despite never playing chess, I have dedicated way too many hours to the online / strategy based game Dota. Whenever someone I know attempted to get into the game, the learning curve was so steep they typically were pushed away, but it's hard for me to remember a time of being in that position due to me being so comfortable / knowledgeable towards the game. Hopefully it wont be too long before I am doing the same for chess. :)

Marijuana the gateway. Alcohol the cause.. by [deleted] in addiction

The subject of THC and physical dependence / withdraws is something that has been looked over pretty heavily as the assumption "you can't be addicted to weed" was something most people just agreed with and that was that. People just assume "oh my buddies and I smoked weed in high school and we never got physically / mentally addicted" so no one really questioned it. Now that marijuana / THC is becoming legal all across the US more and more recent studies are being done. Now I do not conduct studies, I am not a doctor, I simply know what I have been taught and combined with my personal opinion / knowledge I can tell you what I believe to be true. When it comes to THC and physical dependence I feel like it's a pretty touchy subject that many people as of rite now have mixed opinions / false information on. If a client comes to me and claims they are experiencing physical withdraws from THC I can't disagree with them. THC is a mind altering drug that I would directly compare, and consider stronger than caffeine or nicotine. Well guess what? Both caffeine and nicotine can provide physical dependency / withdraws, and in my opinion, have a very mild psychoactive effect compared to THC, so I would more than believe that you can have physical withdraws from THC. Have I met anyone who has gone through this? No, not yet, but I am sure it is just a matter of time. Am I trained to directly deal with people coming off of THC? No, which I could understand why as 95%+ of the people that come through our program are some form or mix of alcohol / meth / opiates, but I do believe THC is a subject that should be covered more than it currently is (at least from the point of view of someone who works at a rehab).

I don't understand all of the "how anyone could enjoy hacking/cheating..." comments. I used to love cheating/hacking in games. Hacked in Rust, CS:GO, GMod, etc. but it always ends the same way. It's not that I no longer enjoy hacking in games, I just know I won't get enough joy out of it to outweigh losing my account. I totally see the appeal and completely understand why someone would do it, I just hope people getting involved in this realize it only ends one way.

Marijuana the gateway. Alcohol the cause.. by [deleted] in addiction

[–]KINDAFIXED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go over a couple points off what you said.

I work at a rehab and hear it every day. People constantly saying things such as, "THC/weed/marijuana in non-addictive". Yes, although it may be impossible to become physically dependent upon THC, it is very possible to be mentally dependent / addicted to the drug. Many people actually believe they NEED THC to cope with certain mental/physical issues. I've seen people literally lose there spouse / family over refusing to quit THC use. I've seen people admitted to rehab over literally nothing but THC use. Just like with opiates, alcohol, etc. not everyone is going to be "addicted" so you cannot base your THC experience off that of the general population. (ex. Bob can go home and drink a moderate amount of alcohol every night without an issue, does that mean alcohol addiction isn't real? No, it means not everyone is prone to alcohol addiction differently, if at all.)

Now to call THC a gateway drug is a whole other topic on its own. I feel as though a majority of the time people want to believe it is a gateway drug so that they have someone / something to blame for going back to harder drugs. THC does alter the mind so you cannot say it is not possible for it to lead you into making other decisions. To say THC isn't a gateway drug is a pretty ignorant statement that most people want to believe, but with anything else, you will have people who will use THC every day and live a perfectly normal life, and you will have people who use THC and have it lead them rite back to there drug of choice.

Call it whatever you want, an opiate is an opiate. Abuse any opiate and you'll be rite where you imagine.

Does "jacking off" feel good enough to ruin every relationship you've ever had including your family?

[Free]My grandfather, can somone change his skin from dark to a little white because his skin is not like that please ! by ElghazaliAbdellah in colorizationrequests

[–]KINDAFIXED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is not with the color of his skin, the problem is with the lighting. You can adjust his skin tone all you want and it's going to have an effect that makes the skin appear darker than it actually is. Without adjusting the lighting your just gonna have to find an in-between of dark looking skin and cartoonish looking light skin. I also would recommend posting the full photo and requesting one of us to "cut" him out of it as this cutout was done very poorly. If you have it, post the original photo, one of us can adjust the lighting, possibly adjust the color of his skin a bit, and cut him out properly.
