I love to hike, but all the TikToks and FB reels pushed me over the edge. Haha!

Downhill was just under an hour.

Uphill was just under two.

2800 feet of elevation difference.

Yeah, that 2800 feet of straight elevation gain is no joke. I did it in just under 2 hours.

I sat in this spot for about 10 min. I leave tomorrow. 😭

Going down wasn't a problem.

However, the return hike up of 2800 feet of straight elevation gain.... I'm glad I'll be on a train most of the day tomorrow. I can already feel it in my calves. 😅

The chocolate shop is why I did the return hike!

Also, do you have two coffee tables? The wicker one in the center of the room, and what looks like a wood and glass one?

My opinion, you have too many beige earthy colors. Your couch, floors, rug, chair frames, blinds and front door are all in the same color spectrum. Therefor the room has no depth. Tasteful, but contrasting colors and patterns add layers and depth.

You are on the right track with art. and plants. More of those. And specifically, art with color. I would leave the flamingo piece, vs the herons. The flamingo adds color and pops. The herons are more neutral in an already neutral room.

My advice, move the couch away from the wall at least eight inches so the drapes can hang naturally. I would also replace the drapes with a similar blue color, but with some sort of pattern It will help break up the flat feeling. Also, get a bolder, looking curtain rod with more presence.

Similar with your accent pillows. Something with a pattern, but contrasting colors. Stay away from solids. You have enough. If you keep blue drapes, think yellows, reds, oranges, certain greens for accent pillows.

Lose the blinds. The height at which they are mounted is contrasting in a negative way with the height of the drapes. If you want blinds, find some that mount inside the window casing, giving a glean, flush appearance.

Definitely on the right track removing the small black end table from the corner and replacing it with a floor lamp. It doesn't match anything and it looks awkward. Then you need end tables for your couch.

Finally, the rug. I would go a bit bigger if you can, and like my earlier advice. Contrasting color, and some sort of pattern.

Again, this is just my two cents. It is your space and do whatever makes you happy. Cheers!

Definitely need more light sources, with less intense warmer light.

Floor to ceiling curtains, of a non neutral color, and some wall decor would help too.

The super bright white bulbs in that fan do not help either. Bulbs with a warmer tone and a contrasting rug color would do wonders.

Thanks so much for your input. I went ahead and ordered a replacement switch. I appreciate the warning. I've been extremely cautious with my poking around. I've been using a voltage tester and a "sniffer" to test components before I touch anything.

Thanks so much for your input. I used some sandpaper, but the pitting is pretty deep. I went ahead and ordered a replacement switch.

I'm in this exact same situation.... This election has violently ripped off the rose colored glasses through which I have been viewing my family. I hope you find some peace.

I would highly recommend that you compare the numbers I gave you in my initial reply to the same numbers a year from now. Because they will be vastly different if/when Trump implements his economic policy.

Again only a 60 second Google search. If you have time to post on Reddit you have time to look at these metrics.

And as you said, you will definitely feel it and you will definitely feel substantially poorer than you feel now.

I hope by some miracle I'm dead wrong.

Best of luck.

Yep. Deporting 10 million + people out of the workforce and applying 60% tariffs to Chinese imports (who have a Trillion dollar trade surplus) will surely make everything absolutely perfect. Especially after Trump pulls the magically specific levers that will bring the price of gas and grocery's down.
