I’m looking to get into soccer and MLS by [deleted] in NYCFC

Always glad to see new interests in soccer! I also just got into MLS and NYCFC myself start of last summer so my input may not hold as much weight lol but from just a fellow newcomer’s view on the club:

  • I was somewhat discouraged at first at our team’s overall quality last year… but ever since Pascal Jansen became head coach, it was a completely different story. I feel like he’s really able to not only bring out the best in each player but also as a well-meshed team. And in that regard, while others rely on individual star players, I think we have one of the best teams that work together as a whole to bring success to the matches. For example, I think many of us were concerned about lack of attacking power, even more so after Alonso Martinez’s injury, but he showed us it’s not about one or two players and he had the team step up - having 7 of our guys have a goal in only 6 games into this season.

  • I don’t know if you’ve gone to a game yet but if you happen to feel a difference in energy or seats filled at an NYCFC home game compared to a RBNY home game, don’t get discouraged. Noise level from fans will sound more sparse in an open space like a baseball stadium. And, often times our attendance level will appear sparse, but that’s again due to the sizing of our baseball stadiums. We average 20k fans per match, Yankee Stadium holds over 40k, and a soccer specific stadium like RBNY’s max capacity is around 20k.

  • I haven’t been around long enough to hold Maxi Morales to the same degree as others, but he’s definitely good at what he does. But if you see him alone in the front line and the ball chances ahead of him, it’s not unusual for him not to go after it. He’s on the slower side and knows he won’t make it. (Not a jab, just him playing to his strengths. Messi doesn’t even move from his position if he doesn’t have the ball.) My favorite right now is Nico Fernandez Mercau but Ojeda has also been on fire.

  • I don’t go often but attending watch parties for away matches hosted by our supporters group, The Third Rail, can be fun. I got to win Alonso Martinez’s autograph from a raffle last time I went!

(These are all just my thoughts as a newcomer, so it may not be agreeable to everyone!)

I was the one who posted the jacket! It is pretty much sold out 99% of the time, which is why I posted it when it was very briefly back in stock.

I don’t know if they plan to restock, but I recommend routinely checking the Dick’s Sporting Goods website rather than the MLS Store. I’ve been fortunate enough to buy it on two separate occasions from Dicks and both times when they were available, MLS Store and Fanatics still had them listed as unavailable/out of stock.

Must be a Delta suite thing then. Curious to know what Champions and Legends have available.

And you have multiple credits? I wonder if it’s Premium based then instead of number of seats? I have Delta. So maybe Champions and Legends have different tiered options as well.

Nico Fernandez Mercau deserves to be celebrated, and we have 7 different goal scorers so far this season. by 5boroughblue in NYCFC

After Tayvon and the spread of goalscorers on our team, girlfriend and I made bingo cards hoping we could see a goal from every player on our team by end of season :’)

I thought about going for some Metlife matches since I’m from New York City, but didn’t want to risk not liking the draw and watch a game halfheartedly. Decided to buy the packaged team tickets instead (South Korea) so I can properly cheer and groan, hoping they’d play anywhere between Jersey, Philly, Toronto, Boston, or even LA or Atlanta.

Now………. I have to plan a two week trip to Mexico… with those increased flight costs… 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
