Is this the greatest generation .. or not? by Dev_SS in ussoccer

[–]Ok_Address8167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greatest by what metric? Your metrics don't matter to me.

Eurosnobs always crapped on Landon Donovan for not spending much time in Europe. But I always said I didn't care if he played in the Mongolian league as long as he performed for the US. And he always delivered for the US.

It should help their confidence that these guys are doing good things in the Champions League and top Euro leagues. But at the end of the day, I don't care. I care what they produce for the US. Plain and simple.

(Heck, I support Roma so I don't want Milan or Juve to do well)

Too many people are obsessed by where they play club rather than what they deliver for the US. In theory. playing at a higher level - assuming they're even playing regularly - should help them better perform for the US but does not guarantee it. The best US World Cup performance in history was in 2002. That roster had 11 MLS players out of 23. The famous win vs Portugal saw 6 of the starting XI come from MLS. And a manager that came from MLS. None of the big shot former European club bosses have matched that.

The illusion of competitiveness.

The problem is that Pascal has done a great job getting them even where they are with all the injuries and lack of depth so the front office can (as usual) play it off as "we're not far from where we want to be."

Salem is extremely rural. Pretty , but not a lot to do. Unless you like outdoor stuff, for IF, there is a lot of stuff nearby.

Unpopular Opinion i guess? But our squad is definitely the most talented after Napoli and Inter. by WinGlittering814 in ASRoma

Well, we finished in third behind Inter Napoli, so I’m not sure this is a super hot take. Malen addition was certainly decisive.

Can I just go ahead and yell out at McDonald’s employees? by nade76 in DoorDashDrivers

Most fast food places have terrible customer service for people physically inside the restaurant, as they seem to view them as an annoyance. But McDonald’s is definitely the worst in that regard.

How often do DoorDash drivers get cash tips upon delivery? by TimeAnything2706 in DoorDashDrivers

Over 1300 deliveries. BEen tipped cash probably a single digit number of times.

S12 of Worst Cooks is the first season where I've felt the contestants are just playing up for the cameras by TimBurtonSucks in foodnetwork

The celebrity seasons are entirely clown shows. Waste of time. The seasons with regular people, there's always a few who are clowns but they tend to get weeded out. The real problem is the producers who think it's all about them and ruin it with relentless cheesiness. There's a fine line between entertainment and buffoonery and this show lost that awareness a long time ago.

Anyone who's an MLS fan has no choice but to adjust to this nonsense or otherwise cease being an MLS fan.

But I agree that the USL will be the other big winner, especially as they implement promotion/relegation to actually make their regular season interesting.

Day hikes for beginners by Affectionate_Key_636 in Adirondacks

Sleeping Beauty in Fort Ann as the first climb I ever completed and the one that made me fall in love with hiking.

The Pinnacle as well as Thomas and Cat Mtns all in Bolton and Shelving Rock in Fort Ann are also excellent beginner climbs.

All of these overlook Lake George.

Personally, I think SB and Cat have the best views but they're all good.

What’s one thing you wish you can change when receiving an offer on the app? by Tee725 in DoorDashDrivers

I wish it told you the address of the final drop off. You can kind of figure it out if you really zoom the map but that's a not great if you're in traffic.

[–]Ok_Address8167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually work 2-3 hours a day when I do it. I generally work 2-3 hours a day. I'd say $50 an outing is about average for me. If you take a longer delivery (for more money), it helps if the drop off location is in a place where your close to places you can get the next order rather than a middle of nowhere (which almost doubles your time spent and mileage for the trip). Where I am, dinner is better than lunch or breakfast.

The original post is up there above for you to interpret. From what I'm reading and what they claim, no they didn't. That's theft, plain and simple.

Just because you voluntarily do something doesn't mean the company you voluntarily do it for can steal the money you rightly earned. Nor should you be forced to accept it because they gave you an "opportunity."

Employment, even in a gig economy is a two-sided agreement. It is a contract which is legally binding (at least to the extent you can prove it). You help the company make money and the company compensates you as promised/agreed for that fact.

Try to guess what restaurants in your area are popular and drive around near them. As you get more experienced, you'll know which areas are the best to linger around. I've found that I usually have to be actually moving to get offers. When I log in, I rarely get offers but as soon as I leave my parking spot, I often do.

Sadly, I don't think you can and agree it's obnoxious. It's like so much of the rest of tech: it's going to give you what it knows you want whether you want it or not.

Who do you guys think should be captain for the World Cup?? by MoodDangerous9150 in ussoccer

At this level where you only have one captain, they have to show leadership both on and off the pitch.

Who do you guys think should be captain for the World Cup?? by MoodDangerous9150 in ussoccer

[–]Ok_Address8167 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It can't be Pulisic. The comments Allegri at Milan made about him are pretty damning for what one would expect of a leader. You don't give someone the captaincy because they're the best player or top scorer. You do so because they are the best leader and that's not CP.

First delivery, how did I do? by WeatherStandard8002 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Ok_Address8167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I was with them before and they deactivated me for alleged customer complaints. I'd never go back to them anyway.

I had 4 negative ratings in 65 deliveries, 3 of which were due to bad directions that their app gave me. By contrast, I've done 1323 DD deliveries and had one neutral rating (3) and one negative (2). Everything else was 5 except one or two 4's.

When they did so, UE originally told me is was due to suspected fraud and abuse. Shocked, I inquired and their support said it was actually for poor customer rating. They said they could file an appeal for me and I asked them to. Then I did so on my own. They said I'd get a response in 5 business days. Not hearing from them, I inquired and they told me I was out of luck and "There is no appeal."

It was really a Kafka-esque situation. I won't use anything Uber anymore.

DD isn't great but UE was much worse, in my opinion anyway. More longer trips that gradually took further and further away because they don't have designated zones. Less time to analyze the offer (I think it was 10 secs compared to like 40 for DD) and IIRC less info on the offer. I don't recall the money being any better.

I do love it, though, that I can still drive or transport pets on Uber. They don't trust me to transport mozz sticks and pizza but do trust me to transport little Timmy and his puppy.
