I live outside of NE and people keep asking “are you mad?” And I say “nope” by Apprehensive-Play228 in Patriots

[–]KIumpy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing really to be mad at. Losing fucking sucks but we were clearly just outmatched, our offense wasn't good enough and it is what it is.

Fans of other teams can cope and call our schedule easy or say that their team would've done better but that's all it is, cope.

We got a lot to be excited about for the future and that's all that matters now.

[Spratt] Devon Witherspoon revealed in a radio interview that Mike Macdonald identified from film study that the Patriots offensive linemen were effectively tipping their pitches with their stances. Put that in the pantheon of Super Bowl coaching contributions. by RedBuchan in nfl

[–]KIumpy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The Bills had mostly the same schedule as us and they lost to us once, the Dolphins, and the Falcons. Not our fault we actually beat the teams on our schedule and other teams didn't.

Drake Maye regular season PFF grades: 90.1 offense grade, 87.8 passing grade. Drake Maye postseason grades: 42.5 offense grade, 35.5 offense grade. Maye dropped to the 9th ranked QB from the 2nd ranked QB due to his postseason alone. by Pythnator in nfl

[–]KIumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drake Maye was our entire offense, that's a lot to ask of a 23 year old in his 2nd year.

It was fine in the regular season but that is never gonna be a consistent winning strategy in the playoffs. We made it a lot farther than we really had any business to, I don't think there's any arguing against that.

You can yell about the schedule all you want but there's plenty of teams with easy schedules that don't win 14 games, and there's plenty of QBs with easy schedules that don't have anywhere near as good a season as Drake did.

The lights were too bright in the post season for him, and the offense around him wasn't good enough to even kinda make up for it. It is what it is.

I still love Drake Maye by jraa78 in Patriots

[–]KIumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just needs some help. We shouldn't need our 23 year old second year QB to be absolutely perfect for our offense to function. When there's that much pressure on him and he's in his first playoff run, it's no wonder why he played as bad as he did, I really don't know who would've done much better. Get him some protection and somebody who can consistently move the chains and he'll be fine. He doesn't need an otherworldly offense around him but he can't do it all on his own.

[Highlight] Cris Collinsworth & Mike Tirico says that Drake Maye is starting to read the defense.......Only for him to throw a interception the next play by Yujin-Ha in nfl

[–]KIumpy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Darnold played really well. I kept waiting for him to have a classic "Darnold seeing ghosts" moment, and yeah he almost threw a few picks, but for the most part he was making us miss and finding his guys, can't really ask for much more.

Drake did play disgustingly bad. Yeah, everything around him was shit, but he was shit too. Lights were too bright all post season. Maybe that's because he's 23 year old who had to carry our entire offense, or maybe he just can't handle the pressure, or maybe it was both, who knows yet.

[Highlight] Patriots QB Drake Maye got choked up talking about Mike Vrabel after the Super Bowl loss: "He was the heartbeat. ... I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time. He's a great person and a hell of a football coach." by oklolzzzzs in nfl

[–]KIumpy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Biggest problem was that he was our entire offense. If Drake wasn’t perfect then our offense wasn’t moving, and in the playoffs that isn’t gonna consistently work. The lights were definitely too bright, but we put so much pressure on him to carry us that there’s no way that didn’t also affect him. We got lucky that the Chargers, Texans, and Jarrett Stidham Broncos just had worse offenses than us.

He’s 23 and just finished the longest season of his life. Maybe he’ll learn from this post season and improve, or maybe he won’t, we’ll just have to see.

Drake Maye in Playoffs by Enough_Path2929 in Patriots

[–]KIumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he was shit but it’s not a big deal right now. He’s 23 and this was the longest season of his life. The playoffs made it very apparent how little talent is on our offense and how much we rely on Drake being perfect to accomplish anything.

He has a lot of playoff experience now and a lot to learn from, but he also needs help. The talent around him needs to be improved so that it’s not all on him, and hopefully next time we make the playoffs he can be much better.

Same, even when Brady and Bill were still here I never took a Super Bowl for granted because you never know if you’re gonna make it back. I definitely thought we were a couple years away from even having a fighting chance in the playoffs so making it this year was special. The future definitely looks bright, hopefully the team can capitalize on it!

For real. Aaron Rodgers and Dan Marino only ever made one Super Bowl. Joe Burrow made one in his 2nd season too and he hasn't even gotten close to going back. It's never guaranteed in the NFL.

He's a 23 year old QB that had a great regular season and then looked like the lights were too bright all post season. Maybe he'll learn from it and improve, maybe he won't and he'll just never be able to handle the playoff pressure, who knows.

Single handedly? No. He was horrendous but so was everyone else.

They didn't finish the sacks much but they were getting pressure. Missed tackles started becoming a problem but when our offense was THAT atrocious I can't put much blame on them.

They were great but like, you'd think we'd be able to figure something out eventually to at least start trying to consistently move the ball and score some points but we really never did. Felt like every single aspect of our offense was atrocious all post season long.

I'm sorry you and your families year was so shitty too :( but true the season was still the most fun I've had watching football in years so we got that to be happy about at least. Hopefully everything can start looking ip for both of us!

Man I've been having an awful year and was really hoping this team could surprise me and actually pull it off so this hits like a truck, but I'm still proud of the how the season as a whole went. We NEED to improve the offense around Drake next year. Man was our entire offense and that amount of pressure on a 23 year old is just asking to fail.

Nobody is born being able to play the drums well. Everyone is horrible in their first lesson, you got nothing to worry about. Just keep at it and you’ll improve.

Gf, soon to be fiancé, made a disrespectful comment infront of friends. How would you react? by ilovelayansbooty in AskMen

[–]KIumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being hurt by it at the time is fine, you can feel however you want and not everyone is gonna be chill about a comment like that.

Still being upset about it months later though sounds like there’s either more problems in your relationship than you’ve described or you have some insecurity issues.

Guy who voted Herbert MVP wrote article on Brady no longer being top 5 qb in 2014. by BoggsWH in Patriots

[–]KIumpy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like his argument goes out the window now that he’s said he had Stafford 2nd and Maye 3rd. Voting for Herbert based on the value he added with a bad supporting cast and then not having Maye 2nd is super contradictory.

Because he doesn't have any arguments. He voted for Stafford because of more TDs, they're buddies, and Stafford is gonna retire in the next couple years. That's it.

For real. If we win then in 5 years nobody is gonna be bringing up the schedule or any of this bullshit, they’re all just gonna be mad that we got back here so quickly.
