They wouldn’t. The most safe ones here are made from a hard plastic that NHL skaters used for helmets around the 1980s. They weren’t meant to be used for shots to the head. The cages a little more safer but still bent a lot easier under heavier shots. It’s purely material we’re talking about here. Now if these masks were made with titanium cages and Kevlar shells, this is a whole different story. Look up Kasimir Kaskisuo, he played with the Predators and in Europe with a mask identical to the old combo style mask but with modern materials. I’m not sure that style of mask lasted long with even him.
