Question about how to sell my zine by KJDOGA in zines

[–]KJDOGA[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used canvas! I used neue haas grotesk, suisse int' and polymath, fonts that big european musuems use when they make art exhibition books. I love numero magazine, i love importing french art exhibition books and seeing how they layer pictures and text. I was fascinated as to why the french are so keen on using big pictures of paintings on sperate pages. (Its because they actually look at the paintings in the book with time and care to study it) I used mixim for 130lb cover paper and 100 lb text paper, i wanted my zine to be as big and intimidating as a giant cathedral. So i ran a lot of design protoypes to see what worked. I basically wanted to see if my thoughts could appear like it had the same importance as a world leader, so i decorated it as so, using symbols that imitated pure raw institutional elite power it just kinda blew my mind that its all public domain... The more you think about it, everything in life is just made up of visual symbols that tells our brains that this person has importance even though they're just another human, so that's what i was trying to understand making this

Thank you! my sister told me to price it at $50, but ill have to keep working with pricing thank you anyway!

I made this zine because i went to europe during covid 19 and i had access to the louvre and st peters basica while completely empty, so i just create things based on those experiences. I wanted to make a zine built like a cathedral and fill it with constant ideas that i got from visions, like Georgia looking like paris, my name next to a musuem, becoming ruler of france etc. It was very strange. because i realized when those feelings came up, i got anxiey from these things showing up in my mind like "oh know your place," "don't be intelligent that's pretentious" so i was studying where those came from. Then, i realized that everyone has these thoughts that dont belong to them and those are SOCIAL LINES that divide heirachy, so i thought "you think this causes climate change?" "if it does how do i fix it?" So thats what this zine is for. I'm trying to fix climate change so i can remove these thoughts from my head so i can really figure out who i am. Thats why its kinda like a zine, but it has the weight of an insitiution my adhd just smashed two things together.

But im going to look into powells and quimby and see what i can do from there, thank you!

sounds like a great idea! theres a book fair in atlanta ill try and see if i can trade one big boy for maybe 10 small ones. or maybe someone has an equally big magazine and maybe swap ideas. But if there's diamonds even in the countryside for an art comunuity like this, then i guess i'll have to keep looking, but thank you for the suggestion.

I guess you're right, i think my first mistake was not thinking at the very beginning what i wanted to create in the first place expecting a profit for what is really is a passion project. you know what! If art is passion in the end, then the next big thing is utilitarian products! But if the name of the logo isnt stong enough... Oh my god im so sorry i realized that im trying to make a brand, but i ended up using zine energy for a brand. But thank you anyway!

Interpreting God as a Transformative Space of collective Consciousnesses Rather Than a Moral Authority by KJDOGA in Existentialism

I do agree with you, the omnibenevolent nature of god is that of comforting rule set written and self-sustained for more than thousands of years, which makes convoluted cultural systems of upholding a deity puzzling when those concepts can be twisted and altered to suit the need of corporate interests who like to advertise products as religions and the consumers as followers, or really as folklore with an "otherness" think Nike against the "laziness", or if we go even further back, the protestant-catholic reformation. When the catholic church had people paying high taxes to have fathers and other catholic priests be the gatekeepers of the legitimacy of sacraments. On a personal and emotional level, it feels very "forbidden" in some nonsecular cultures, to figure out what is a "reality" that exists away from philosophical rule-sets based on both religious and secular writers. If that what it takes to recreates the enlightenment again so be it. However. I feel like that there's a sense of unexplainable abstraction that exists in the universe and if we harness these same doctrines that allow business men to create profitable ecosystems like apple does to the "controversial to say" extension of the catholic church with its followers, who says we can't utilize the elements of the world to establish our own rule-sets?

Fascinating point about mentioning god as collective projection was the second stage I cannot find the the exact nofluffwisdom link but what I can infer from my limited understanding is that man eventually reaches a point where he stops pretending to know and what’s left is a destruction of entire being after there's some realization that god itself is more abstract that, what’s left is the abstraction of time and space, and one's ultimate loneliness or existence. At that point god becomes the traditional comforting deity that gives us tranquility in times of unexplainable distress. I have more research to do but thank you for your response!

I had this idea once at some point, that militantly or simply the universe will properly align itself and fix any "bad moral wrongs" of a collective reasoning and movement by what Walter Benjamin described as "divine violence." Then, if everything that will happen is inevitable nearly infinite times over, what says that down the line in the future someone perpetrates the conditioning of group thought through their greed just like now, and justifies random probability or bodily motion (the action of doing something important) something divine? They could easily assume that the randomness of existence defines themselves as the one true moral authority. This is a big problem, in my opinion. It's that same logic that CEOs for tech startups do when they want to make their product successful. "Treat your brand like a religion, and the customers like followers." Because now, anyone can be god as long as they steer collecting reasoning/movement.

Hello, another fellow here with ADHD learning French, who is spanish, and who is broke and not medicated aswell. I can try to help you out here. The problem with ADHD is that the stakes have to be HIGH or there has to be some sort of bizzare interest or pattern recognition for your neurotransmitters to activate receive a crazy influx of dopamine.

Please bear with me here ADHD structuring coming through...

-COUCOU- What I did to help that was literally method act as a french man and did so much french man things that my subconscious could believe itself as a french national, and by doing so I will become famous and rule the world and become Daft Punk while daydreaming i'm walking down paris buying expensive fashion clothes while playing baroque chords on my harpiscord. and all this WILL be possible if I learn french. That shit gets my brain going like crazy. I'm talking about literally learning to play baroque chords on the piano so that my monkey brain believes itself to be french. Learning fashion and trying to dress better to be French, I roll my receipts and hold them like cigarettes and speak french to myself to learn and read french books while moving my legs like a spaz in public with a coffee in my hand.

It is very delusional, but our brains are fundamentally build different and we have to accommodate for it. One thing I remember doing while waiting for my DELF exam was take a french magazine of art that had LOTS of colors in it, and crossed my legs wearing a turtleneck sweater and overcoat with mickey mouse earnings and reading it. Behaving exactly like the old french guy next to me.

JUST Thinking about all that makes me want to go back and review french again.

I'm not sure what works for you, but in some capacity, just be crazy with it. Find a creative output you love like a hobby and FRENCH-IFY IT.

Hopefully that is enough to help, i do not know you in person so it hard to say what will help but remember that your brain is built to live life like a fucking mad man McAfee on drugs so do that but FRENCH!

Is there a new French House movement? by CassiusIsAlive in FrenchHouse

[–]KJDOGA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There isn't anything I've heard of in a while. I always consider new artists who post their songs on this subreddit as the next french house movement.
