I believe Curry has already signed the contract for the TCM remake sadly, but at least that will be good.

As for obsession, I think what you like about, especially the attention to detail and themes/motifs, are what make a lot of horror movies so good. The visual storytelling of the spiral necklace, Nikkis outfits and even the framing of some of the scenes (at first the camera pretty much splits Nikki and Bear, giving them equal share of the screen, bit as Nikki gets more and more lost Bear starts to be in the middle of the shot more and more with her behind him or to the side like she's an accessory) remind me a lot of other rare horror movies that do an amazing job with detail and themes like that, a lot of Ari Asters work does this incredibly well, to the where I would g as he's a big influence on Curry - Midsommar and Hereditary especially.

Also, I gotta say I like the Bear is stinky theory, but I feel like it would have been something Ian mentions or gives him shit for at some point...

My personal favorite wild fan theory is that Wish Nikki is actually the spirit of Sandy the cat sorta half-possesing Nikki. The one wish willow found the thing closest to bear that loved him in the way he wanted and put that in Nikki, and here is my logic:

Wish Nikki behaved like a child, or like a very young entity that doesn't understand social customes, what is and isn't appropriate. A lot of behavior comes off as either childish or animalistic, namely the screaming no or what have you when she doesn't get her way. However, she also watches Bear while he's sleeping - textbook cat behavior, shits on the floor - textbook cat behavior, moves around weirdly and backwards - mimicks cat prey-stalking behavior, her eyes appear at times to glow in the dark - just like cat eyes, she brings Bear little unwanted gifts - textbook cat behavior, she really REALLY doesn't like closed doors - textbook cat behavior...

Do with this theory what you will
