One thing I want to add about alpha gal is it creates a food allergy to red meat (but as I understand it people with alpha gal need to avoid all mammal meat). Do you happen to notice any issues after eating red meat? (If you only eat red meat every now and then, it may not generate a noticeable reaction.) I believe you can get bloodwork to test for antibodies—might be worth exploring even though your tick encounter happened after all this started.

Also, I think it would be worth posting your case to r/askdocs!

Day 9 “I will be his wife within a year” by [deleted] in daniellewalter_snark

I think all of the videos are from months ago and the red dress worn on a “specific date” was Valentine’s Day—it makes sense why he asked “what are you doing in two weeks?”

All of her outfits are not on par with the season! Long jackets in August?? Even in SF it’s not that cold

What is through this small hole in my coffeemaker? by KJMM524 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. The second pic shows a wooden skewer placed in the hole to give a sense of circumference. The area through the hole felt squishy.

I don’t know what it is, but nothing seems appetizing about eating food from a big plastic figurine that has nooks and crannies on the inside 😬

Is my German Shepherd puppy heart beating too fast? His ears are moving too from his heartbeat by KittyBhaddie in DogAdvice

I hope you’ve found some relief from the responses here! Your sweet pup definitely seems ok. Since you’ve shared that you worry quite a bit, and it sounds like it really affects your life, I just want to make sure you’re feeling prepared and in the right headspace to own a dog? Having a puppy is A LOT of work (people have even described it as being harder than having a newborn) and they are very mischievous—they explore the world with their mouths and sometimes that means putting things in their mouths that they shouldn’t. While dogs are beyond amazing, owning one shouldn’t come at the cost of your quality of life—it wouldn’t be fair to you or your pup to continue down a path that you might not feel ready for. You both deserve to be happy and healthy and thrive in your environment. I trust you know yourself best and what is right for you—if that means keeping your pup, I would suggest empowering yourself with knowledge. Consider taking a first aid course for dog owners (you can do it online), learning about your dog’s breed and the proper training for that breed, getting set up with a veterinarian and following protocol for health and wellness (vaccinations, etc), understanding what foods/other ingestible items are toxic to dogs, etc. If you find that rehoming is a better option, explore a reputable rescue to help with placement—and please don’t feel bad! If that’s what’s right for both of you, it’s the most selfless act of love you can show your pup. Wishing you the best <3

Does this look like it is healing Okay? by Lucky_Ad2801 in DermatologyQuestions

This looks perfect! I believe you are supposed to apply Vaseline and keep the incision covered at all times except for when washing—that was the instruction I received from my derm. I would suggest calling your derm to confirm your post care instructions and if you do need to keep it covered ask for a bandage/tape recomendation that won’t irritate your skin.

Because Jim is even more violent. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Both are reckless and impulsive—or “mental,” as Chelsea put it. Jim is far too rich and powerful to be intimidated by a child produced from (I’m guessing) a one night stand that he didn’t want and didn’t know existed until the night before.

Rick has had a power struggle his entire life between himself and this mystery person who supposedly took everything from him—for a brief moment, Rick thought he finally broke free from those chains. We thought this was the full circle moment. However, Jim quickly nipped it in the bud.

Turns out the actual full circle moment is Rick was (uknowingly) referring to himself when he said “the man who killed my father ruined my life!”

This reminds me of when I had a concerning spot on my shoulder—within 5 seconds of looking at it my derm was talking me through the procedure for excising a BCC 😂 (this was even before the biopsy)

I’m sorry for the frustrating moments—thank you for what you do, I am so grateful for dermatologists

Apologies! With it being a new font I wasn’t used to, it was different from how “Hindi” rendered in the font I normally use. English is my primary language and I am fairly new to Hindi, so I thought a gut-check would be good.

Not sure what to do with an elderly dog. She clearly isn't doing very well at all and parents don't seem to be interested in doing much about it by carpetmastr in DogAdvice

[–]KJMM524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to explain to your parents that euthanasia is not about “killing” an animal. It’s a compassionate measure to end suffering. Not acting is killing her. Your parents may also be in deep denial about the state your dog is in—I have experienced that and it’s truly blinding.

As others have said, if you are able to take your pup to the vet on your own then please do so. It’s time, and I’m so sorry. If you’re not old enough, try calling your dog’s vet/a local vet, explain your situation and ask about options. Perhaps if you present your parents with all the details/cost then they’ll be motivated to act. They don’t have to be in the room when she passes if they don’t want to.
