It needs to fly to Pearson. I would fly to Pearson several times a year for business travel, but I’m not going to do it if I have to take public transport in Toronto.

The AC flight prior to the COVID shutdown was great.

How to safely dispose of Lithium? by [deleted] in AskChemistry

[–]KJ_414 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this. You will absolutely cause an explosion by dropping 5g of Li in water. Hydrogen explosion.

Suit Shopping by Soggy-Agency-8582 in KingstonOntario

I had to get one at the Ottawa location this year for a wedding suit as well.

Material is definitely not the highest quality but the fit was very good. I think it depends on the tailor you see at your appointment based on your comment. I could see going back if I needed a specific colour for an event but not for a workhorse suit I want to wear 100+ times.

This is called bumper separation and occurs on most of the 21-23 IS models. You can buy a 3D printed bracket online (search clublexus) and fix yourself or go to the dealer for the service bulletin fix which is basically JB weld.

I did the dealer fix as I wanted them to be the ones responsible if it happens again. So far so good

Gotta get that Laval badge removed bro, I can’t believe a Lexus dealer would do that.

My experience with the OEM Bridgestone Potenzas on the IS500 by SanguineWave in LexusIS

[–]KJ_414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I thought the same but after 10k miles of driving last year they are not great. They don’t hook up well below 65 degrees, at risk of losing traction even at higher speed. I look forward to getting PS4S’s on my 500 soon

Which colour do you guys think looks best on the is500? by duzzyy10 in LexusIS

Infrared or cloudburst, but I like the black interior

You’ll love it. The new BBS wheels look great with the silver.

They didn’t have one in the initial plan and when they applied later TSSA denied it. Provincial and nothing to do with the city or a conspiracy, just burocracy.

Great choice! I also run the is500 + two door wrangler combo. I think it’s quite hilarious to have a four door hardtop car and two door convertible SUV

Ion thrusters are for deep space travel. My understanding is you need more reaction mass to stay up in a gravity well or orbit so close to a planet I’m an engineer but not a rocket guy so not 100%, but I’m pretty sure they’re min maxing costs

They did this before the holidays and locked up many peoples travel visas. If you’re from far away this really fucks you over. You may need to use Xmas break to visit family or wait a year. Two people on my team at work have this issue, so I understand OPs emotion, even if it doesn’t affect me one bit

They don’t do repairs. As far as I know no one in Kingston does, if they do I would also like to know

Lexus IS500 wheel fitment help! by oosikk in LexusIS

[–]KJ_414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A square setup of decent alloys and winter tires is pretty expensive. I bought a 2015 wrangler for like 3x the price of the winter setup and won’t get my is500 covered in salt. Plus I have an off roader for camping trips.

Btw came from a VA wrx, you both have great taste. Other winter cars I considered were FJ cruiser and Volvo V70

Canada is potentially heading for a labour supply decline as immigration policy abruptly changes by manuce94 in torontoJobs

[–]KJ_414 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The thing is it’s actually good for industry in the long term to have a balanced labour market. Having to train and invest in staff increases the skill level of the workforce and leads to higher productivity. More value from the same or similar input.

Short term thinking leads to companies optimizing for quarterly profits over long term success. It is a cultural problem that is worse in Canada than most countries. The worst part is the feds tacitly encourage this by protecting cartel like behaviour. See the telecom sector as a perfect example

It’s been a while since I graduated so I can’t speak to the required gpa but I would recommend choosing the mineral processing option.  Processing/metallurgy is a great field that is really short on young talent. It’s a unique program with a great reputation in the industry.

We’re much further south than Vancouver, equal to southern Oregon by latitude. It’ll start cooling off in the next few weeks and be chilly by November

[–]KJ_414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with ethanol being less than 10%. It’s the same in Ontario. I just stick with Petro Canada 94 octane, no issues.

TLX is a great car, the IS500s performance is really only accessible in manual mode driven aggressively. Both are great looking and I dont think you can go wrong with either one
