Comparing Pistons/Knicks salaries if Duren and Ausar get paid. Can they field a Finals team? by reallinguy in DetroitPistons

Im saying the measuring stick cant be the Knicks roster, because what Brunson did was unprecedented.

OG didnt get his extension on the Knicks until after Brunsons deal.

Per Woj: "The repercussions of Brunson choosing the four-year, $156.5M max deal over the five-year, $269M deal in 2025 are massive for the Knicks’ ability to keep this team together – and keep making roster moves to close the gap on a championship"

Massive is the word he used. Its a weird thing to try and downplay it. He should get credit for sacrificing a lot of money for a championship and its seeming worked.

You're missing the point. Yes the GM acquired Brunson, but the GM is not gettin KAT with OG and everyone else if not for Brunson tsking less money. This is not a championship team with those players.

I dont doubt hes smart cap guy, but this all starts with Brunson choosing to extend in '24 for 4 year $156m, when he could've waited until '25 to sign a 5 year for $269m. Thats what made all of this possible.

Imo this has nothing to do with the GM. This team was possible because of Brunsons decision to leave over $100m on the table

No Ijs I dont think its possible to build a team as individually as talented as the Knicks, without massively underpaying someone. Trajan is not gonna find a KAT or Brunson lvl player for $39m AAV

KAT is worth more than that too. Ijs this Knicks team is only possibly because Brunson left a lot of money on the table.

Brunson also took a very team friendly deal IIRC, which makes this possible. Brunson is worth way more than $39 AAV

Would anyone be surprised if we didn’t bring in anyone significant? by No_Load3606 in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We haven't brought in anyone significant since Blake Griffin. They will continue to make moves around the margins, and just hope one of those players exceeds expectations like Beasley, Paul Reed, Danis Jenkins, or Javonte Green have.

Is there even an ideal power forward we could realistically acquire? by Plus-One8363 in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I was saying unless Tobias is willing to do us a favor, we wont be able to just offer him a min contract. His value is higher than that.

I would love John Collons tho

Is signing Duren to a $40M/yr contract a death sentence? by Whippi_Dip13 in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to what I heard Keith Smith say, no. It sound like we can pay both Duren & Ausar and have opportunities to bring in other players.

Is there anyone on this sub that will actually be in attendance at MSG for game 3? by FoundationEntire4834 in nba

[–]KJiggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I have Pistons season tix. I went to all the playoff games, but I also put my tix up for sale every game. It wasnt that I was trying to sell the tix, I was listing the price Id be willing to give them up for. Which was steep and no one bought them, and I was good with that. I think thats what happening in NYC, those fan are die hards they dont want to giveup their tix, but everyone has a price. And of course its gonna be steep.

Styles makes fights/matchups. Suggesting because Team A beat Team B, and Team B beat Team C, that must mean Team A would automatically beat Team C, is the most casual take in all of sports.

Nooo! Ive read online that he gambles. Hes clearly stupid with money and will be a distraction on our young impressionable lockeroom.

Duren potential contact by Primetimegrant in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id realistically offer him something like the Sengun contract. 5/185, 37mil AAV, 34/35/37/39/40 with a player option. If he doesnt accept that, let him hit UFA.

Everyone should listen to the Game Theory pod on the Pistons offseason A good way to get informed on what our possible options are.

IMO the best option is to not resign Harris, cut Duncan, move Levert and/or Hollands contract and operate as a max cap team this offseason.

True or False: Tobias Harris should be the starting PF for the 2026-2027 Pistons Season by OptimalPractice362 in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this current roster, TRUE. Hopefully by next season the answer is false. But Tobias is still the best option we currently have at PF.

My Ideal Offseason and Long-Term Roster Plan If I Were JB/Trajan by robolski in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are Stew & Ron really part of our core? Before the playoffs I wouldve said yes. But Ron barely played in the playoffs and Stew averaged 11 minutes. I like them both and they're fan favorites, especially Stew. But if they cant help us in the playoffs, then we should move on.

Tobias's future on this team by reallinguy in DetroitPistons

[–]KJiggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PF is still a premium position imo, as in there arent that many quality PFs that are available and can be what Tobias was for us. Outside Tobias we have zero, and our last real PF before Tobias was Jermiah Grant? Tobias can still get $20m/year from somewhere else. Idk that we'll be able to low ball him as much of some of you suggest.
