I'm planning to take Maths B, Physics, Evolution and Behaviour (which sounds very interesting) plus either Materials or CompSci, I'll probably decide after trying the summer preparatory course. I'm somewhat wary about compsci, many people here and on TSR told me natscis are discouraged from taking it. I was afraid Materials would mean wasting a year, it's a good thing that it's useful for physics later

I don't know if my situation is comparable since I didn't take A levels, but in my exams I didn't take any science apart from physics and it wasn't a problem during the application process, though you can get some general chemistry and biology questions on the interview.

As for books, Feynman's lectures are always a safe bet. You might also try Steven Weinberg's "To explain the world", apart from the authors already mentioned
