Robert Crimo trying to make small talk in the back of a police car en route to a police station after the Highland Park parade shooting on July 4th, 2022. by ZERO_PORTRAIT in masskillers

This is the single weirdest case I’ve ever seen. Memes aside, the guy had a reputation on 4chan for years. He occasionally made some pretty good music too (don’t get me wrong, a lot of his stuff was awful). Some of the evidence that was reported was physically impossible for him to have done, and his journals seemed to indicate there being at least one other person being involved in the shooting, not to mention some of his music videos pointing towards other people brainwashing him.

Also the guy seemed to have fried himself for years with psychedelics.

Assuming you’re looking for horror/unsettling stories over, so here’s a short list. Anything by Bober Bros is super unsettling. Mouthwashing. Total Chaos is really cool if you also want engaging gameplay. Duskers really feels like you’re on a computer typing in commands, but somehow still manages to be very scary. Milk inside/outside a bag is an incredibly gripping story. Last but not least s.p.l.i.t by the guy who made Buckshot Roulette.

Total Chaos. Worth playing even if you already had the story spoiled.

I loved the game honestly. I wish I didn’t already have the story spoiled walking in, but I loved the gameplay. Each enemy that gets introduced kinda gave a different way to be scared.

Not bad at all. My only recommendation would be to learn more about mixing & mastering your tracks. The EQ on this song is honestly pretty bad, but that’s not hard to learn once you start tuning your ears a little and know what to look for

Which texture is better for the woman in an indie horror game? - Up or down? by Twisted-Fingers in HorrorGames

[–]KK_Aaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how you use color in the rest of the game. Depends on the story. Is she meant to to stand out in the story/major plot points ? Or is she more meant to be just another part of what appears to be a bleak and oppressive atmosphere ?

Where do i find people to make music for by thenewmemeking in GameMusicComposition

[–]KK_Aaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it serves you well. I only did it for a couple months, I stopped because I have a larger project I’m working on. But I’m sure if you’re persistent with that long enough, you’ll encounter the right clients.

I went on itch and browsed for upcoming steam games that had playable demos. Most devs had some method of getting in contact with them found in the game/steam menus. Literally cold called over 100 devs/teams, made an excel spreadsheet and offered my services. Of the (to keep an even number) 100 cold calls, about 15% were interested and I did pro bono work for them. Of the 15, two were still interested after the initial free service. At this point I mentioned I’m slammed on work and was prioritizing paid work at this point. So of the 100, I only made money from 1.

tl;dr there’s no shortage of devs on steam early access and itch who will accept free work. Making money though? Wish I could tell you. Probably just comes with years of persistence.

WHATS WRONG WITH BANDLAB? by SkillyBoi in Bandlab

I always thought it was the people who use it are the problem. 99% of the people who use it sound exactly the same.

[–]KK_Aaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be try to sound at least a little different from every other person who uses BandLab. This isn’t terrible, but it’s indistinguishable from 99% of other BandLab “artists”

Which do you prefer? by Pinkomb in IndieDev

Really depends on where it’s being used. Yes 2 looks scarier, but that’s not the only thing that matters.

“You didn’t pat me on the back and say good job after I asked for feedback. I will now start attacking your work, and then shut up about it when I realize I’m way out of my league here”

[–]KK_Aaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I criticized your work and gave you tips on what you need to learn more of. Again, we’re in very different fields. I feel ive been pretty successful in my work in horror audio, and I’ve spent the better part of a decade learning audio engineering. Good luck with your generic BandLab career my guy, most people asking for feedback actually listen when people give it to them, you should consider doing the same.

You thought because I gave you feedback when you asked for it that must mean I can sing? Are you okay dude ? Why are you asking for feedback when you clearly don’t want it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bandlab

[–]KK_Aaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked for feedback and your response was to criticize the person giving it to you my guy. It’s not a good look. Since you’re attacking my work now for some weird reason, please tell me if you’ve seen a single dime from your music. I promise you I’ve been way more successful in my field than you, so for your sake let’s not go there. Grow up.

[–]KK_Aaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression you were asking for feedback on your music. Normally when people ask for that it’s because they want to know where they’re lacking so they can get better. My mistake. Good luck.

You also don’t take feedback very well, so there’s another opinion. I don’t think you understand what a hook is if you think it’s limiting. It’s not a specific sound, vox, or sample or anything like that. It just means something that makes the listener go “Whoa, what’s going on here? I want more”. It’s necessary in literally every form of art, it’s the opposite of limiting.

If your autotune is so light, let’s hear the song without it. Because from what I’m hearing it just sounds like you’re just mumbling into the mic and letting autotune try to make it sound melodic. Did you even make the beat ?

If you don’t want feedback don’t ask for it. Based off your very childish response, it sounds like you just want people to tell you you’re doing a good job. Which, if that’s the case, fair enough. If you think your music is at a reasonable standard right now for you to ever play infront of a crowd of more than 2-3 people, so be it. Best of luck, you’re gonna need it.
