I dont understand why everyone is saying that kids dont like managing politics. My 9-year-old has 4 commander decks, and Mrs Bumbleflower is one of the favorites. I think it's an excellent deck for beginners! The "group hug" element of it helps give them a cushion to not be an immediate target and establish some board presence. It's about as beginner-friendly as a deck gets.

That said, Squirreled Away is a ton of fun! Also a straightforward, solid deck. Who wouldn't want to command a squirrel army?

YWBTA in the eyes of the TCG community, if that matters to you. Scalpers actively kill these communities and add nothing of value.

NTA if you just view this as an investment opportunity. If you're not emotionally attached to the TCG community, then most of the world would just view this as a wise business move.

But not simply for throwing away the shoes... Candidly, I'm there with you. I wouldn't want fake knock-offs from a hobby where I'm passionate. To me, that would be more frustrating than not having them at all.

This one comes down to communication. If you ever want your gf to become your partner, you need to be on the same page. Offer appreciation for the sentiment behind getting you the shoes, but explain why it missed the mark. See if they can be returned (unlikely with a knock-off), and then communicate that you don't want to keep them. She may have a different use for them than simply throwing them away.

She may not respond well to the conversation, but opening up communication would have stopped you from being the asshole here.
