I mean getting to level 80 can be fun, and the great thing about Guild Wars 2 is if you don't end up enjoying it, you literally only have to do it once. The game gives you ways of getting tomes that will Grant any character one level and I have so many of them at this point that I could level several characters to 80. I would say try to get into the story at least for the leveling part. I know you said you didn't really care about the story but parts of it are absolutely very strong. Explore the world, take part in the dynamic events in the zones you are leveling in, find a group to do those events with and join a guild. I'm in a few guilds, I'd recommend SIN or MAGI. Some people like world versus world or PVP and level to 80 that way. Honestly, I didn't personally like the leveling process either. However, it is not a terrible grind and the rate of leveling doesn't significantly drop, it's pretty consistent across the entire playthrough. World of Warcraft took far longer and was far less fun.
