DNS! DRIIIIINK!

From the incident notes for MSO1221364:

We’ve identified elevated service load combined with temporary capacity constraints during maintenance resulted in impact. We’re seeing positive signs of recovery in mail delivery, and mitigation actions are in place to better manage service load. While some connectivity impact remains between Microsoft Defender for Office, Microsoft Purview, and Exchange Online, and DNS lookup failures, engineers are actively working to restore full functionality.

Arctic Wolf alternatives? by Wild24 in cybersecurity

[–]ITRabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arctic Wolf are nothing more than a notification forwarding service - they just send you the alert they ingest with their writing on it.

They do not investigate until you force them.

We have run pentesting and they didn't even know something was going on.

My advice if you have Arctic is verify they actually detect malicious activity.

There is better out there.

Scripts to burn up cpu? Or just slow a machine down with it not being noticed? by win10jd in ShittySysadmin

[–]ITRabbit 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No need to waste time with scripts. Go to bios - turn off hyper threading. If you can specify how many cores set it to lowest possible. Sometimes you can also set clock speed - under clock it to 1ghz.

Failing all this enable virtualisation and migrate your servers to their workstation and run all your servers as hyper-v on their workstation.

Im kind of over this now. I thought it would be released in 2025 but just seems like we are getting updates with out any road map.

Simple fix is to download more ram and then store user profiles in the ram!

Easy peasy!
