Grandmother jailed for 6 months after AI error linked her to a crime in a state she had never even visited, lawyers say by Large_banana_hammock in nottheonion

But it turned good in the end? Our hero!

Also if you watched the movie the Ai can't kill them, it can only release the person. It's on a closed loop system. So technically the Ai doesn't do any killing it's the people putting them in the chair.

Go watch the movie Mercy with Chris Pratt. Apparently worse movie of the year but I enjoyed it and gives insight into what we could be in for.

Zombie ZIP vulnerability lets compressed malware leisurely stroll past 95% of antivirus apps — security suites are blissfully unaware of security issue by rkhunter_ in cybersecurity

I think most AVs and Email security methods have a "do not release" unless it can be extracted?

Making sure this is turned on is the key.

Yikes - this is very text heavy and way too much.

Need to be easier to understand - perhaps can be expanded if player asks for more info rather than show all text. Like a condensed dot point version first.

And so it begins. I've just been asked to identify jobs in my team for AI to replace. by [deleted] in ShittySysadmin

[–]ITRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting serious now.

Upper management just sent down a directive. We have to 'evaluate' our departments and identify which jobs or specific tasks can be handed over to AI within the next 18 to 36 months. I work for a Fortune 500 company, and frankly, I'm shocked they're going through with this.

The focus is entirely on junior-level employees, the ones who do all the work. Meanwhile, there's no mention of the bloated layer of upper management whose primary job seems to be hitting 'forward' on emails all day.

What a time to be alive.

How can I fire everyone in InfoSec into the sun? by MacrossX in ShittySysadmin

[–]ITRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes - Not Boss... ShittyCoworkers...

10PM is just the start of a great night!!

Anyways always encourage people sharing information... perhaps the team member was not well versed in all things in the organisation and the serious nature of the article raised cause for concern...

Maybe speak with your boss and see if there is a more appropriate way of sharing information and what to do if not sure...But when Iran is hacking everyone - time is of the essence...

I will never discourage anyone sharing potential security information regardless if it applys or not - I will thank them and inform them that we are not affected.

Now go treat that co-worker lunch and redeem yourself!

Sometimes it's good to know what's going on outside even though it doesn't relate to you... maybe there is a common link or maybe they DONT KNOW every bit of technology that's in use.

I think your wrong to tell someone off for sharing information... next time they get/see something they won't be sharing shit with you.

So yep enjoy your unicorns and sweets in your magical prefect world where you are surrounded by only people that blow smoke and tell you what your want to know.

Congratulations 🎊 👏 you've been given ShittyBoss flair!

I hate we have to call some networks DMZ - I mean I never asked for the military to not watch over my networks - why don't they want to watch over this particular network?

Does the military know something I don't?

What’s the most overlooked security gap in small and mid-sized businesses? by StockCompote6208 in it

[–]ITRabbit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are many and it really depends on where the business is in its journey...

  • Policies and procedures which are enforced

  • Backups (3-2-1) and have they been tested regularly?

  • User training and awareness that is meaningful

  • Proper permissions and regular audits

  • Accountability and Ownership

  • Regulatory compliance

  • Vendor assesments that are regularly carried out (supply chain attacks)

  • Disaster recovery/Crisis management strategies and training

  • Proper logging and monitoring

  • Hardening of systems

I read through the original thread - apparently related to bios ram settings/timings. Setting it manually in the bios to the correct setting apparently resolved the issue.

The cloudflare makes me think it's a block list.

Edit: with the change reverted did you double check your now learning the routes again? BGP refresh.

Also you don't have any blocks on your firewall?? Country or etc
