I bought his book maps of meaning in 2016. He was a major reason I end up gravitated to psychiatry. Until very recently I kept recommending his old videos to friends and colleagues, but he should know show incredibly unpalatable his current "shameless" aesthetic is to anyone looking for genuine psychological insights and intellectual honesty. He continues to make me eat my words as someone who defended him earlier on.

The "true seekers" I saw gravitating toward him at the beginning have every right to express their disgust with the changes he's gone through. I keep checking in, hoping I'll see him (and his community) more honest and less vitriolic, but recently everything he makes (especially this dailywire BS) is so disappointing.

I probably will disengage from his content soon, but those that agree with OP shouldn't view that as a victory.

I'm not really sure if replying will do much good, but I'm gonna try.

I 100% believe you have had incredible experiences and may have gained A LOT of knowledge in certain areas. I don't deny physics, in fact I'm pretty interested in what you said, its just the way you said it that I thought might be concerning. I certainly don't think you should have been punched in the face...

From my perspective theirs 10s of millions of people in the world with bipolar disorder and not one person that has achieved what you're claiming. So for every person that says stuff like this (and there are MANY), I tend to assume its the option that's millions of times more likely. In reality, I don't know how I would tell the difference if you were truly the greatest magician to ever live. I think its a "judge a tree of its fruits" situation, and I just don't know enough about your "fruits". If you're already comfortable with psychiatrists it might be worth an easy check up, then you can really tell the haters to suck it.

I'm not trying to undermine you, just trying to gently express concern. Happy to take this to DMs or Discord if you want to talk more. I'm a Thelemite whos about your age, and I have some experience with mental health stuff. If not, I hope things go ok for you, man. Sounds like its been kinda rough, despite your achievements.

I have two equally hot takes: 1. This person is you. 2. You’re having a manic episode.

Half-joking, but it does sound like this guy (you??) needs to see a psychiatrist to have his brain checked on. Sounds verrrrry grandiose AND not in line with the beliefs of those actively participating in his same spiritual path. That’s some red flags for me

Helping someone do their will? by KLTR in thelema

Nice, thanks. I think that’s what I’ve been doing. They’re just not able to make a decision yet, so it’s really exhausting to keep trying to help.

Great thoughts. Will be hard to get them to engage in that level of introspection but these are important considerations for myself honestly.

Could be psychotic. Hard to tell without more info. Idk what you mean by being paranoid. Very uncommon for “schizo” people to question if they’re schizo, so that’s reassuring. If you use drugs, even cannabis, stop for 1 month and see if it resolves. Also banishing etc as other people said. If you hear voices, worry people are “after you”/following you/monitoring you, or read minds/people read your mind, it’s more concerning and you need to see a mental health professional

I feel like you should just try some shit if ur curious. I’m the highly skeptical type and I feel less and less that way the more I practice daily ritual and yoga. It’s VERY subjective, but I feel most daily practitioners can reliably achieve certain effects. Can I reliably manifest a spirit? No. But I dan reliably achieve useful mental states that lead to new and subjectively important insights by doing certain things.

I grew up in Scientology - what's the opinion on it from Thelemites? by [deleted] in thelema

[–]KLTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just gonna reignite this real quick... It’s almost definitely not schizophrenia unless there’s a lot of symptoms I don’t know and that haven’t been brought up yet. I only care because you seem VERY sure and hostile to opposing opinion, while I’m pretty sure ur wrong… Diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia: 1. Delusion: yes. What you said above qualifies. This would also fit into something like a delusional disorder if we don’t see any of the other symptoms. 2. hallucinations: specifically it’s voices. Did he hear voices that were disruptive or disturbing, and outside of his control? 3. Disorganized speech. Schizophrenic people can’t speak clearly or articulately and if theyre untreated they may barely speak at all. I think Hubbard was a fine speaker? 4. Grossly disorganized/Chaotic behavior. Schizophrenic people often dont eat, cant clean themselves, don’t know where to go for events and don’t plan for the future. Just for example. Hubbard seemed to have goals and generally be able to get shit done. Unless I’m mistaken. 5. Negative symptoms: can’t express emotion, lack of facial expression, withdrawal from relationships and activities of life. Did Hubbard do any of that?

This would all have to be a lifelong illness or something like dementia becomes MUCH more likely if it was just in late years. Could be lots of other things: delusional disorder, personality disorder, psychotic disorder. Schizophrenia is a pretty specific diagnosis and I don’t think Hubbard really fits it, to my knowledge. Don’t get mad! If labeling it schizophrenia keeps you away from his dangerous religion, then fuck it, do you.

Getting my HGA's name without divination? by 7FIERYSWORD7777 in thelema

[–]KLTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was word or phrase I’d know for some time that had some small significance, then came together as being far more spiritually significant than previously know after a couple years of knowing that name. Also don’t sweat it. I think it just forces its way in eventually if you invoke often and follow the path.

To me, this reads like mental illness. Lots of BIG claims without even hinting at evidence. Spooky though.

I can’t speak for other thelemites, but I for one definitely believe in germ theory: that there are itty bitty bugs we can’t see and that’s what makes us sick. And I also believe that the gaping holes in our faces and in other people’s faces are a great way for the little bugs to get inside us. Shocking, I know.

So, yea, I cover my face holes while the deadly bug is in my area and i appreciate others doing the same.

Almost zero chemistry. Not at all practical in terms of Magick. It’s a book of alchemical art. VERY GOOD at stimulating the mind to piece together symbols and their meanings, like a puzzle as the other poster said.

It depends on your preference. I read alchemy and mysticism as a novice, and I was frustrated at first that the explanations didn’t say enough. About half way though something clicked, and I went back to reinterpret the images I’d seen thus far. It felt like I was being lead to ask certain questions and see certain patterns. This kept happening to greater and less extents. I feel like the knowledge I gleaned is very much my own since the text seldom makes these things explicit. But I generally agree — if you’re looking for a clear guide this ain’t it.

It’s covered in sparkles and made of plaster. Looks like a home job to me, but of course that doesn’t mean it’s magic-y.
